Gwynedd Cat
Club
17th July
2010
My thanks to Marie & Joan and Committee for inviting me to judge.
A show just 30 minutes from home is definitely my sort of show!! The entry
was down on past years and with the ample amount of floor space available it
was a pity the aisles weren't wider, at times they were just a bit too cosy for
comfort!
Thanks as always to Mark for accompanying me.
Best of Variety SLH Neuter - From a very good selection of
SLH Neuters I had little hesitation in selecting Mrs Porter's stunning blue and
white Norwegian Forest Cat PR NOYNAROCK SYLVESTER (see report below).
This cat is such a showman, he was just not prepared to be overlooked!!
Oriental Best in Show - I must confess
that I was very surprised that the winning Oriental Bicolour adult was not up
for Best in Show; however, from the three cats I had to consider I had no
hesitation in giving the award to the Blue Neuter. My choice was between:
Best Adult - Mrs Sharp-Popple's Havana CH DENSON LOUISIANA - see
Open Class report
Best Kitten - Mrs Bauerfeind's Blue Oriental
Spotted Tabby TOGHAR FAIRTYTALE. A kitten of beautiful Oriental type.
Excellent head shape. Ears large and well set. Good profile. Excellent eye
shape and set, good colour. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and
texture, good colouring, but the pattern is superficial. There is an inherent
difficulty assessing the pattern in Blues , even taking this into account, the
pattern is breaking down, and shows a definite movement towards being Shaded.
Excellent condition and temperament.
Best Neuter - Mrs Anderson's
Oriental Blue GR PR FIORDILISO EARL GREY. A strongly built lad of
overall very pleasing type. Excellent head, ears large and well set. Very good
profile. Eyes of very good shape and set, good colour. Excellent body type.
Excellent coat length and texture, good colour, not quite sound.
Norwegian Forest, Adult Male
Considered for BoB:
Grant's CH NOYNAROCK MIKA 67 31ft M 15-08-07
A large well
grown youngster of overall good type, when I judged him he was rather
lethargic. Head of very good type. Ears good size, well set. Good profile, good
firm chin. Rather square in the muzzle. Eyes rather too horizontal in set
making him look very mournful. Excellent length to body, very good bone and
substance. Excellent legs. Coat of fairly good texture. Very attractive
colouring.

What an
absolute dream! This lass certainly knows how to win a judge over, though I did
think the nose licking just a little OTT!!! This very confident sweet natured
youngster stood tall on the table and showed herself to very best advantage -
which makes even a mediocre cat look good, HOWEVER there is nothing mediocre
about this lass! Excellent build and overall type. Head of very good type and
shape. Ears excellent size and basically well set, though she does tend to hold
them a little wide. Excellent profile, correct bite, excellent firm chin. Eyes
of excellent size and shape. Good neck. Excellent body length and type,
excellent strength of build. Tall strong legs showing excellent bone. Long well
plumed tail carried well over back. Coat of excellent texture and good length,
just a little sparse. Very attractive colour. Stunning temperament. I was
really impressed with this lass, young though she is she certainly deserved the
CC and BoB. Congratulations to Breeder/Owner
as an aside you nearly lost
her, she told us she wanted to come home with us!!!!

ADNIOLO AZURE AMBITION 67 31gt F 04-10-09
Another youngster of very
good size for age, barely out of Kitten classes, but looking very much an
adult. Head of good overall type, just a little broad for correct balance. Ears
of good size but held rather low - the set was basically correct, but she was
just a little timid and tended to flatten them. Good profile, correct bite and
strong chin. Eyes rather full. She has a very good length body, despite being a
little tense. Good tall legs with excellent strength of bone. Tail a little
short for balance. Coat of good length, just a little soft, very attractive
colour and markings. A nice lass, very unlucky to meet the winner.
Norwegian Forest, Neuter Male
This
was an excellent class containing real quality cats - all of them were worthy
of the BoB. I thoroughly enjoyed judging them, and would compliment the
exhibitors on their presentation and condition.
1 & PC Coward's PR
NORDLYS LIAM TOINENTOR 67 18 MN 29-02-08
A large strongly built lad of
overall excellence. Strong masculine head of very good type. Ears of very good
size and shape, very well set with correct width between. Very good profile
overall, maybe the skull is just a little flat for perfection? Very good muzzle
shape, correct bite, firm chin. Eyes of very good size, to me the top lids are
just a little too horizontal. Body of very good length, strongly built and of
excellent type. Tall strongly boned legs, long well balanced tail. Coat of
excellent length and texture, very attractive colouring. Shown in excellent
condition. He was just a little timid and didn't do himself justice on the
table, which sadly lost him the BoB, but despite that a really pleasing example
of the breed.
2 Porter's NOYNAROCK TOMTE 67 31t MN 09-09-09
A well grown strongly built lad, surprisingly mature for his young age. A
cat of overall pleasing type. Head just a little wide for correct balance. Ears
of good size, but set rather wide - he was rather timid and held them low which
accentuated the wide set. Very good profile, good bite, strong chin. Eyes very
good shape and size. Long body of excellent size, substance and correct type.
Tall well boned legs, lail of correct length for balance. Coat of very good
length and texture, rather moulty. A nice cat, pity he doesn't show himself
better.

Now talk about being a show off!
This lad really has a super out-going temperament and his younger house-mate
could surely take lessons! Strides out of his pen onto the table and stood
showing himself to perfection - looking every inch a NFO. A large strongly
built lad of excellent type. Ears of very good size and shape, with good tall
set. Excellent profile, sadly his chin is very shallow. Excellent shape eyes of
good set. Excellent muzzle. Head held proudly on strong neck. Large strongly
built body of excellent type. Tall strongly boned legs. Tail rather blunt and
too short for balance. Excellent coat length and texture with full furnishings.
Very attractive white markings on good blue coat colour. Excellent condition
and a quite delightful temperament. I see that I gave him a PC two years ago,
today he had to be satisfied with the BoB! A real pleasure to judge.
Also considered for BoB:
Higham's PR VESLEMOY CHARLIE CHOO

A rather grumpy lad who really wanted to be
somewhere else! A large soundly built lad of good overall type. Masculine head
of good proportions. Ears of very good size, shape and setting. Very good
profile, correct bite, excellent chin-line. Long body of excellent size and
substance, tall strongly boned legs, tail short for balance. Coat of very good
length and texture. Excellent condition - piy he wasn't more out-going, a very
nice lad though.

A real showman, he was determined not to be ignored! A large
strongly built lad of overall excellence. Head of very good type though maybe
his skull is just a little wide for perfect balance. Well shaped ears of very
good size and excellent set. Excellent profile, very good chin, correct bite.
Long body of excellent type. Tall strongly boned legs. Balanced tail. Coat of
excellent length and texture. Excellent condition. This lad has a delightful
temperament and was great fun to judge
I bet he's a great lad to have
about the house!
Porter's PR NOYNAROCK XANADU 67 15 MN 15-07-07
A large strongly proportioned gent of excellent type. Good basic head
shape, just a little too wide for perfection. Ears good size and shape, very
well set. Overall profile was pleasing. Correct bite. Good chin. Body of
excellent length and very good type, well boned and muscular. Tall strong legs.
Tail of very good length. Coat of very good length and texture. A very friendly
gent.
Wareing's PR NORGESKAUKATT OSKAR 67 14a MN 14-06-09
A
large strongly built lad of overall excellent type. Masculine head of overall
pleasing type. Ears very good size and shape but set a little wide spoiling the
overall balance of the head. Very good profile. Expressive eyes. Long strong
body of excellent type. Tall legs, strongly boned, lovely paws. Well balanced
tail. Coat of excellent length and texture. Yet another lad with a lot to like
about him.

A very attractive little lass looking very much a kitten and
unfortunately too small and immature for the award of the PC. Size and
substance aside there is a lot to like about this lass. Head of overall good
type. Ears of good size, shape and correctly set. Good profile overall, though
does show a slight dip. Good eye shape and size. Good muzzle. Correct bite,
strong chin. Long well balanced body of very good type, just lacking size and
substance. Long tail. Coat of very good length and excellent texture. A sweet
natured lass, she really did seem to enjoy the attention.

A
real pleasure to meet up again with this great old lady. Head of overall good
type. Ears very good size, set a fraction wide. Skull just a little flat, but
overall a good profile. Good chin. Body of good length, just a little portly.
Excellent strong bone. Tall legs, balanced tail. Coat of good length and
excellent texture. Certainly not the most confident of ladies which means that
she doesn't show to best advantage - she obviously thinks less of me than I
think of her, she is a good looker though!
Leese's GR PR SHANLIVLE
DELTA 67 22 FN 13-04-07
A very friendly large lass of very pleasing
type overall. Head of very good shape and correct type. Large well shaped ears
correctly set. Good profile. Very good length body of overall good type. Tall
legs though the bone is a little fine. Good length tail. Coat rather short but
of very good texture, very attractive colouring and well defined patches -
which I know is not important, but it all helps make her an attractive lass!
She has an excellent temperament and showed herself to perfection.

A
young lass of overall fair type. Ears good size and shape, fairly well set.
Profile far too straight, nose a little long. Nice muzzle shape and cheeks
showing some definition. Eyes good shape and set, good blue colour. Body rather
short and cobby. Tail very short. Coat of fair length and texture, points
colour rather too chocolate. A sweet natured lass in excellent condition.
Considered for BoB:
Williams' CH EISERBLEW BELLE DE JOUR
66w F 19-09-07
A rather small lady of fair type. Head overall too
narrow. Ears good size and shape, well set but needing more width between.
Fairly good profile. Cheeks lacking sufficient development, muzzle rather too
fine. Body of fair length but far too fine in type, lacking strength of bone,
she could carry a little more weight to advantage. Coat short. She did not
quite reach the standard I look for and therefore I did not feel justified in
awarding the BoB.

shape, cheeks showing fairly good definition. Mid blue eyes good size and
shape. Good short strong neck. Long body of very good type and substance. Legs
well boned. Tail a little short for balance. Coat of very good length and
texture, well marked. A good natured lad shown in good condition - he lost BoB
by a whisker.

A lad of overall
pleasing type. Head of basically good type. Ears good shape, well set with good
flat skull. Good profile though his nose is a tad long. Fairly good muzzle
shape and fair cheeks, though I would like these to be a little more
pronounced. Body of good type with both size and substance. Strong bone. Coat
of good length and texture, excellent dense points colour. Very good condition
and temperament.

developing well; good muzzle. Eyes good shape, fairly good colour. Body of good
length and type. Good bone. She was a little tense and didn't show to best
advantage. Coat of good length, pleasing texture, well marked. A pleasing lass

A superb lady - no
surprise that she was later Best Foreign! A very dainty lady of excellent type.
Very good head type, Ears of very good shape, well set. Excellent profile. Very
expressive eyes. Excellent muzzle. Very good body, balanced legs and tail.
Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent colour blue on rich oatmeal
ground. Ticking a little indistinct, such a common factor in blue tabbies, but
it was definitely there, though I would prefer more blue barns. Shown in
excellent condition. This lady was thoroughly enjoying her day out, a real
little extrovert with a delightful temperament. A real pleasure to judge.

Sharp-Popple's SEIDO SEA HAWK 29 M 13-06-09
A well grown lad of
overall very good type. Ears of good size and shape, excellent set with good
top of head. Very good profile, good chin-line, bite a little uneven. Very good
lines to wedge. Excellent body type, good firm muscular condition. Good slender
legs, neat paws. Tail short. This lad was very out of coat with long harsh
textured hair along the dorsal area which was very weathered and brindled;
along the sides the coat was very short and close of a rather dark brown - it
was difficult to assess the overall colour. A cat of very pleasing type but his
coat precluded the award of the CC. Excellent temperament.

CH DENSON LOUISIANA 29 F 31-08-07
A female of fairly good overall
type. Balanced head of quite good type. Ears good size and shape but needing a
little more width between. Fairly good overall profile but showing slight dip.
Chin shallow, bite good. Good lines to wedge overall but showing slight muzzle
pinch. Green eyes of good size, shape and set. Body of good length and overall
type. Tail a little short for balance and lacking sufficient taper. Coat short
and close lying, colour fairly sound , showing heavy ghosting and obvious
weathering. Overall I considered that this lass just reached CC standard, and
gave some thought before deciding to award the CC.

SYBELLA ZINDACATU 37k M 12-07-09
A cat of overall good basic Oriental type.
Ears very good shape, size and set with good top of head. Very good profile.
Good muzzle shape with good lines to wedge. Green eyes of excellent size and
set. Body of very good type. Good elegant legs, well balanced tail. Coat rather
long, showing far too much weathering, excessive ghosting, and very unsound.
Unfortunately his coat was so bleached it was impossible to assess the true
colour and precluded the award of CC. Excellent condition and temperament.

A very small

balance and good type. Ears good size and set. Good profile. Eyes of good shape
and set, very promising colour. Short close coat of good texture. Colour
appeared to be good rich brown and sound to roots. A sweet natured baby showing
promise.
