PRESTON & BLACKPOOL CAT CLUB SHOW
29th March
2008
My thanks to Show Manager Pat Parrish and her team for
inviting me to judge. The show was well organised as one would expect and the
new venue seemed popular with all concerned - it is so readily accessible from
all parts of the motorway network. I had a good book and am grateful to Mark
for stewarding for me as usual.
AC Colourpoint / Mitted Ragdoll
Adult Male
1 CC & BoB Baker's ROSYPOSY PEGASUS 66a M 08-02-06 Well
balanced head of overall very pleasing type. Ears of very good size and shape,
correctly set, very good top of head. Good overall profile though just a little
long in the nose. Eyes very good size and shape, pleasing colour blue. Fairly
good cheek definition, good muzzle. Good chin and correct bite. Excellent
strong neck. Long body of very good size and substance, correct type. Sturdy
well boned legs. Balanced tail. Coat of very good length and texture, well
prepared. Good points colour. Excellent temperament and condition. Well
deserving of CC & BoB.
2 Jones' GROOVICATS KOKOMO 66a M 24-08-05
A well bodied male of overall pleasing type. Ears well set, good size and
correct shape. Fair top of head. Fair profile but nose far too long. Lacks
sufficient cheek development and muzzle appears too pointed. Eyes rather round,
would like a deeper blue eye colour. Long body of excellent type and substance,
masculine and very strongly built. Coat of excellent texture, very good length.
Points good colour. A very pleasing exhibit overall, pity he has the little
head weaknesses.
AC Colourpoint / Mitted Ragdoll Adult Female
1 CC Roy's ADOREISLE DOLLYDAYDREAM 66et F 19-06-07 At just 9 months this
lass is very immature and still looks very much a kitten
but hey ho
since when has that been a fault? Ears of good size and correct set. Good top
of head pleasing profile and good nose length. Eyes of very good shape and
size, good blue colour. Body of excellent type, very good size and substance
for her age. Good sturdy legs and balanced tail. Very neat paws. Coat of
excellent length and texture. Excellent colour and markings. A very attractive
little Miss with a great temperament. Shown in excellent condition. Well
deserving of the CC.
2 Lancashire's HAPPYTIME DEBBYS DELIGHT 66at
27-02-07 Overall this lass lacks the size and substance I look for in this
breed even allowing for her age. Very immature and needs to grow. Ears of good
shape but set a little high. Fairly good skull. Fair profile. Very long in
nose, rather fine in muzzle and lacking the cheek development needed to give
breadth to muzzle. Eyes good size and shape. Body of fairly good type but
lacking size and substance. Excellent coat length and texture.
Siberian Adult Assessment
None of these cats had a copy of
the Breed Standard on the pen though the how Manager did have a copy. I would
remind exhibitors that when you show a cat in Assessment it is YOUR
responsibility to provide, and leave on the top of each pen, a copy of the
Breed Standard.
Merit : Powney's KOOLBLUE PHOENIX 82/18d M
14-06-07
A very attractive young male of very promising type and conforming
well to the Breed Standard. Head very well balanced and of overall very good
type. Ears of very good size and setting. Good profile. Good chinline, correct
bite. Muzzle well shaped. Eyes of very good size and set. Excellent body type
in accord with the Breed Standard. Tail rather short for balance. Coat of very
good length and texture, very dense just lacking a little topcoat. A very
attractive red silver colouration. A delightful cat with a superb temperament,
shown in excellent condition. A fine example of the breed.
Merit
: Powney's SILKIESTAR MIKADA 82/20 F 02-04-06
Head of very good overall
type. Ears of correct size and shape, very well set. Good profile, correct
bite, good chin. Well defined cheeks and pleasing muzzle shape. Eyes very good
size and shape. Well balanced body of correct proportions. Legs of good length
and substance. Tail correct length for balance, very good shape. Coat of very
good length and texture just lacking a little undercoat. Showing defined tabby
pattern. Excellent condition and temperament - another very pleasing exhibit.
Merit : Powney's KOOLBLUE NEMESIS 82/31t F 18-04-07
Unfortunately this lady was rather nervous and somewhat difficult to assess
but she seemed to conform well to the Breed Standard. Head of correct overall
type. Ears very good size and shape, set just a little wide. Good nose length,
correct profile. Pleasing muzzle shape. Correct cheek angulation. Etes very
good size and shape. Body of well balanced proportions as required by Breed
Standard. Fairly good substance to legs. Tail of correct length and shape. Coat
of good length and texture, lacking a little undercoat. A very pleasing
exhibit, such a pity she's so nervous - I would like to see her when she's
relaxed, she has a lot going for her. Excellent condition.
No
Merit : Bevan-Taylor's ADSETLO MOONGEM RASPUTIN 82/36 M 26/09/06
Head
of fair type overall, rather too long for width. Nose long with a rather narrow
muzzle and lacking defined cheeks. Eyes of good shape and set. Rather too long
in back, and too tall in the leg giving a rather rangy appearance. Tail a
little long and thin. Coat of fair texture but rather sparse in places. Very
good temperament, needs to carry more weight. Overall I felt that he didn't
conform sufficiently to the Breed Standard to award a Merit.
Asian
Smoke or Burmilla Neuter
Wrong Colour : Kemp's NATZKATZ IRISH CREAM
72/43bsq MN 16-05-07
Oh dear oh dear
This cat is absolutely
stunning and I couldn't give him a PC! Unfortunately he was entered as a
Chocolate Silver with Burmese Restriction, whereas he is definitely Caramel not
Chocolate. This lad is one of the finest Asians I've handled for some time - he
really is a most promising youngster of excellent type and conformation. Head
of overall excellence. Ears of perfect size shape and set. Excellent profile
with perfect length nose. Excellent eye shape, set and expression. Excellent
body type. Excellent coat length and texture, superb caramel shading on clear
silver ground. Shown in excellent condition. This gorgeous natured lad was a
real pleasure to handle and certainly made my day. Many thanks for entering him
under me
.. I do hope I'll have the opportunity of judging him again.
Blue Point Siamese Kitten
1 & BoB Ellis' MAZPAHS
MISCHIEF MAKER 24a F 31-08-07
A very stroppy little madam of overall
quality
. And boy does she know it! Ears of excellent size shape and set.
Excellent top of head. Good profile overall, just a little raised at the brow.
Slight muzzle pinch spoiling otherwise good lines to the wedge. Eyes very good
size shape and set, colour could be a brighter blue. Body of excellent length
and very elegant type. Points of a good even blue, almost matching the mask.
Body colour rather a warm tone. Excellent size for age, shown in excellent
condition. A very attractive kitten.
Chocolate Point Siamese
Kitten
1 BoB n/a Tomlinson's PLEZETOBE PIDED PIPER 24b M 11-09-07
Ears large and well set with good width between. Excellent profile. Good
chin line, unfortunately bite noticeably overshot. Eyes of good shape and set,
haws raised. Blue appeared to need more depth of colour. Slight muzzle pinch
spoils otherwise very good lines to wedge. Excellent body length and type. Coat
good length and texture. Points colour a warm chocolate, legs almost matching
mask and tail.
2 Jones' SARAMESE LITTLEPOTOFGOLD 24b MN 20-10-07
Large ears of good shape, well set. Skull very irregular. Profile uneven.
Muzzle showing severe pinch spoiling lines to wedge. Eyes rather small and
though of good shape are too horizontal in set, raised haws. Excellent long
slender body, long slim legs, neat paws, long well tapered tail. Mask badly
brindled. Colour a little dark.
