GCCF Supreme Show
21st November 2009

Another November and another Supreme … but this year the Supreme was a vast improvement on recent years, the layout gave a much friendlier atmosphere and lacked the awful echo and 'waste lands' of previous shows; the show was undoubtedly a great success. Celia Leighton must have been delighted with her first stint as Show Manager of this prestigious show.

Thanks to Mark Parkinson for once again being my Chief Steward, and to Matthew Adair and Ron Hoare for stewarding.

Best of Variety Oriental Kitten:
Mrs C Simpson's SUNJADE TICKLEDMYFANCY (45k) F 07-05-09
I was delighted to award this stunning kitten Best of Variety. She is a very elegant dainty female of overall excellence - her type is pretty nigh faultless! She has a superb short close lying coat with very clearly defined rich cinnamon ticking on the correct coloured ground - one of the finest Ticked coats I have seen for many years. I was very impressed with this delightful lady and hope that I will meet her in the future. Both owner and breeder must be overjoyed with this kitten.

Asian Tabby Female Kitten
Mrs S Sellman's SKAMPAWS MAGGIE MAY (72 45sq) F 10-04-09
Unfortunately I had to mark this attractive kitten "Wrong Colour" because I could see no indication of any silver in her colour. Head of good type overall. Ears good size and shape well set. Eyes correct shape, size and set. Lovely top of head and very good profile. Body just a little short and compact lacking daintiness. Legs rather heavy. Tail short for balance. Coat rather long, ticking poorly defined, and no evidence of Silver. A sweet natured little lass.

Asian Self Kitten Male
1 & BoB Mrs P Hutchinson's KIMANI RASTA OF IRREP (72) MN 10-03-09
A well grown kitten just a little heavy in type. Head of good basic shape. Fairly good profile, nose just a little long. Correct bite, good firm chin. Ear fairly well set, good size. Eyes good shape and set. Body large and well grown, legs rather heavy. Tail fair length. Coat rather longer than desired, very glossy dense black, sound to the roots. An attractive exhibit. Excellent temperament and condition.

Asian Self Kitten Female
1 Mrs H Langham's ADNIOSH KAEWA (72) F 02-04-09
Attractive kitten of overall good type. Head of very good overall shape and type. Ears very good size and shape. Skull a little flat. Fair profile, correct bite, firm chin. Eyes good shape and set. Fair muzzle. Body of good type overall, elegant legs and very neat paws. Tail a little short for balance. Coat rather long, glossy dense black, but not sound to the roots. Excellent condition, just a little 'hissy'! Such a pity the coat isn't sound.

Asian Tiffanie Kitten Female
1 & BoB Miss H McRae & Mr R Gabb's DAYJOY ORLA (68 43hsq) F 26-06-09
A very attractive kitten with great promise. Head of very pleasing overall type. Ears of good size and shape but held a little too horizontal, though the basic set appeared to be correct. Fair top of head. Good profile. Eyes good shape and set. Body of perfect length, type and balance. Elegant legs, dainty paws and tail of correct length for balance. A beautiful coat, of excellent texture, but lacking sufficient length. Excellent shading on a clear silver ground. Excellent condition and temperament. This delightful lass excels in coat texture, and has very attractive colouring.

2 Mrs S Sellman's KENZIE SWEET HARMONY (68 41bs) F 23-02-09
An attractive lass, nearly adult, with a pleasing coat. Head of good basic type. Ears of fair size but held rather high. Good profile though nose a little long. Eyes good shape and set. Body of good type, elegant legs. Tail good length. Overall rather light weight for her age. Coat of good length and texture. Pattern fairly well defined, good pattern colour on correct ground. A well natured very attractive lass, despite some head weakness she does show promise.

AOC Self Oriental Imp/Grand Champion, Male
1 UK GCC & BoB Mrs M Dawe's GR CH WESTGARTH FOOLSGOLD (37k) M 23-03-08
This lad is an impressive male of overall excellence - he has all the qualities that are required in an Oriental, with very few faults. Powerful masculine head of overall excellence carried on long elegant neck. Large ears of excellent shape and set with very good width between. Excellent profile. Strong muzzle with excellent lines to wedge. Eyes of perfect shape, size and set, excellent expression, and the most stunning green colour. Long firm body of excellent strong masculine type yet retaining elegance. Tall elegant legs, neat paws. Tail of good taper and proportionate length. Coat short and close lying, just a fraction harsh in texture in places. Colour overall very good, and basically even, but in places is slightly brindled - this combined with the slight harshness lead me to believe it was 'sun-bleach'. This lad was in excellent condition and very well presented. Excellent friendly temperament and my criticism of his slight coat fault was more than outweighed by his overall excellence. An excellent example of the Oriental, a pleasure to judge, and well worthy of this very high award.

2 & BoB Mrs J Tarbox's IMP GR CH TIJANMEEK MCLAREN (37fn) M 23-08-07
A very handsome, strong, well grown male of overall excellence and so very unlucky to have to compete with the winner. Well balanced head of overall quality. Ears of very good size and shape, very well set. Slight dip to profile. Good lines to wedge. Eyes of very good size shape and set. Long body of very good type, but spoilt by carrying a little too much weight. Elegant legs. Tail of fairly good length and taper. Coat short, close lying and very good texture. Colour appeared to be the correct shade, very even with minimal markings showing. A very attractive lad and another fine example of the breed.

3 & BoB Mrs J Haggar's GR CH SUSPIRIA SIMPLY SOLARUS (37r) M 21-04-07
A mature male of overall excellence, the place is surely no reflection on his quality as all three exhibits were worthy of the certificate. Head of very good type overall. Ears large and well set with excellent top of head. Good profile, correct bite and firm chin. Excellent green eyes of very good size, shape and set. Body of excellent Oriental type, excellent length and well muscled. Long elegant legs. Tail a little short for perfection, reasonable taper. Coat of excellent length and texture but not lying sleekly. Excellent even colour with minimal ghosting. Overall this delightful natured lad is an excellent Oriental with excellent colour. Shown in excellent condition.

Havana Champion, Female
1 & GCC Mrs P Sharp-Popple's CH DENSON LADY EMMA HAMILTON (29) F 29-06-05
A mature female of overall good type. Head well balanced and of correct overall type. Ears of fairly good size and shape, set a little high. Muzzle showing the slightest pinch which spoils the lines to wedge, Good profile, correct bite and firm chin. Green eyes of good shape and set, fair expression. Body of good length and overall type, very mature. Tail rather short for balance and lacking sufficient taper. Coat of good length, fair texture. Excellent colour, very even and almost sound to the roots. A very attractive mature female shown in good condition, just a little timid but she handled well enough. I thought she was just up to the required standard for the GCC.

2 Mrs P Sharp-Popple's CH DENSON LOUISIANA (29) F 31-08-07
An attractive female of very good overall type. Balanced head of good basic type. Ears fairly good size and shape, lacking a little width between. Wedge spoilt by muzzle pinch. Fair profile. Bite correct but chin rather shallow. Eyes of good shape and set, fair green in colour. Body of very good type, slim elegant legs. Tail of fair length but lacking sufficient taper. Coat of good length & texture. Good rich colour but showing ghosting and not sound to the roots. A timid lass of overall good type, shown in very good condition.

Havana Pre-Champion, Male
1 CC & BoB Mr T & Mrs R Cassar-Simmonds' FIORDILISIO INFIDELITY (29) M 15-01-09
A superb cat of overall excellence - certainly a fine example of an Oriental. A strong well balanced head of excellent type. Large ears of excellent size, shape and set with excellent top of head. Excellent profile, firm chin, even bite. Brilliant green eyes of excellent shape and set with superb expression. Excellent length body of strong masculine type, firm and well muscled. Long slender legs, tail of excellent length with good taper. Coat short and close lying, excellent colour almost sound to the roots showing just the faintest of ghost markings. An excellent cat of the required type and temperament. A delight to judge. A very impressive lad and a stunning example of an Oriental and showing just what a Havana should look like.

Havana Pre-Champion, Female
1 & CC Miss G Rathbone's BELLIS COPPER (29) F 13-09-07
A medium type queen of overall fairly good conformation to the SOP. Balanced head of good type. Ears fairly good size and set. Profile shows dip to nose. Good chin and correct bite. Eyes a little horizontal in set, fair colour. Body small and lacking sufficient length. Legs slender with neat paws. Tail of good length and taper. Coat of very good texture, a little long. Colour fairly even but not quite sound to the roots. A sweet natured lass, I had some misgivings awarding the CC but considered that she just reached the required standard.

AOC Self Oriental Imp/Grand Premier, Male
1 UK GPC & BoB Mrs M Halliday's GR PR TOGHAR TERRACOTA (37d) MN 16-07-07
A strong masculine cat of very pleasing type overall. Strong well balanced head. Ears of excellent size, shape and set. Muzzle shows severe pinch which spoils the lines of the wedge. Skull rather flat spoilin an otherwise very good profile. Eyes of very good shape and set, good light green in colour. Excellent elegant Oriental body type, excellent length. Long slender legs. Tail just a little short for balance. Short coat of very good texture. Excellent rich colour, solid dorsal area with some pattern discernible on the flanks. A lovely natured lad of overall excellence which outweigh the faults. Certainly a quality exhibit.

2 & BoB Dr C Baxter's IMP GR PR SOLARUS CATHY'S CLOWN (37r) MN 28-07-05
A very attractive chap of overall pleasing type. Head of very good basic shape. Ears of good size and shape, a little too high in set. Skull a little flat spoiling an otherwise good profile. Correct bite and chin line. Eyes good shape and set, good colour. Body of very good length and of elegant Oriental type. Long slim legs. Tail short for balance, fairly good taper. Coat of good texture, but rather too long. Very good even colour, not quite sound but showing minimal ghosting. This delightful natured lad was shown in excellent condition. A very pleasing exhibit indeed.

3 Mrs E Cox's IMP GR PR KHERAF REDHOTSHOT (370 MN 26-05-06
A cat of overall excellence, but he was a little out of sorts and didn't really want to play - unfortunately he had to pay the penalty. Excellent head. Ears of excellent size shape and set. Excellent profile. Excellent lines to the wedge. Eyes very good size shape and set, colour a light green. Body of excellent length and overall type. Long slender legs. Balanced tail of good taper. Excellent coat length and texture, very close lying. Excellent rich red colour, though showing rather heavy tabby barring. Shown in excellent condition. He really didn't seem to be enjoying hid day, which was a pity because he is a cat of very great quality.

AOC Self Oriental Imp/Grand Premier, Female
1 IGPC n/a Mrs R Marston's CH & GR PR STYPERSON TIGER LILY (29c) FN 28-02-02
A mature queen of medium type, and unfortunately she wasn't enjoying the show. Well balanced head. Ears good size and set. Very good lines to wedge. Good profile. Eyes good shape and set, eye colour very pale. Body appeared short and cobby lacking Oriental elegance, but she was so tense it was difficult to assess. Coat of good length and texture, very good even colour. Unfortunately she did not show to advantage and it was with some reluctance that I withheld the certificate.

Havana Premier, Female
1 GPC n/a Mrs R Marston's PR STYPERSON EMMALENA (29) FN 28-02-02
A sweet matured older lady of medium type. Head of fair type overall. Ears good size and shape but set rather high. Dip to skull spoils overall profile. Eyes good shape and excellent colour. Body rather short and cobby lacking the elegance required in the breed. Legs rather short, slender with dainty feet. Tail rather short. Coat good length and texture, very good colour but not sound to the roots, scattered white hairs on the shoulders. Very good condition and temperament. She is an older cat and unfortunately lacks the required elegance, with regret I did not feel the award of GPC was justified.

Oriental Cinnamon Premier, Male
1 GPC & BoB Mrs W Weaver's PR SUNJADE SKIPPER (37k) MN 27-10-07
A cat of overall excellence, he was rather nervous and therefore didn't show to best advantage. Excellent head type. Ears large and well set with superb width between. Excellent even profile. Excellent lines to wedge. Eyes of good colour and excellent size, shape and set. Body of very good length and type but carrying too much weight. Tail a little short for balance. Colour showing some brindling and not quite sound to the roots. A lovely chap, rather nervous but with no sign of nastiness; excellent quality and certainly deserving the GPC.

2 Mrs D Hacking's PR ALLIBEAR MICKEYMOUSE (3kk) MN 25-03-06
A well grown exhibit of pleasing type. Head well balance overall and of correct type. Ears very good size shape and set. Profile very uneven. Muzzle showing severe pinch. Green eyes of very good shape and set. Body of good length, just a little heavy in type. Tail lacks sufficient taper. Coat rather long but of good texture. Colour rather uneven, brindled and very unsound. Excellent condition and temperament - waistline needs watching!!

Oriental Caramel Neuter Male
1 IC & BoB Dr C Smith's MOUSTACHES CARAMELLE TWIST (37n) MN 13-09-03
A large cat of overall excellent Oriental type - though carrying too much weight! Head of correctly balanced type. Skull a little flat. Excellent size shape and set ears. Muzzle a little square. Eyes of very good colour, well set but rather full. Excellent length body, long legs with neat feet. Tail short. Rather a chubby lad, he would look better if a little slimmer - a problem of advancing years!! Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent even colour showing no ghost markings. A delightful natured chap in good condition, he's a fine example of the breed and carrries his age well.
