Chester & North Wales Cat Club

9th August 2003

John S Harrison

My thanks to Show Manager Chris Titterington and committee for inviting me to judge, at what is for me quite a local show. The day was certainly nothing if not hot but despite all Chris managed to keep her cool ….. she must surely be one of the most unflappable of Show Managers! Well done Chris on yet another good show.

The heat certainly affected the temperament of some of the exhibits and quite a lot really did not want to play! Fortunately with the doors open in the morning there was a slight movement of air which made conditions just about bearable for the cats … never mind the judges.

AC Bicolour Ragdoll Adult Male
1 & CC Fitzpatrick's EMERISLE PIED PYPER. 66 31 20-07-2002
At 12 months old this lad really does show some promise. A large, well grown, strongly boned lad who still looks a bit of a baby! Very good flat top of head, good profile. Ears of good size and correct set. Good muzzle shape, cheeks developing well. Very good eye colour, good shape and size. Very good body type, very good length and well balanced limbs. Coat of good texture, though a little short at present. Very well marked overall, the small brown spot on the one hind leg is of no consequence. A really promising youngster, with maturity he should be a most imposing exhibit. Well deserving of CC.

AC Bicolour Ragdoll Adult Female
1 CC & BoB Sprot's GR CH CHURSTON CAMEO 66 31 28-03-2000
This very imposing imposing female has all the qualities I look for in the breed. She is of overall excellence, and has a superb temperament which she uses to advantage! Head of overall excellent type. Ears of correct size and shape with perfect setting. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile showing perfect dip and nose length. Excellent eye shape & set. Excellent muzzle shape. Well developed cheeks. Excellent strong neck. Excellent breadth of chest. Excellent body length. Body strongly built and well muscled with well balanced strongly boned legs. Well balanced tail. Coat of excellent length and texture. Excellent points colour forming perfect contrast with body colour. Excellent markings overall , for perfection facial markings could be a little more even, and one front leg shows just a little more colour than desired BUT in a cat of this quality such things are barely worthy of mention. A superb exhibit and surely one of the best examples of the breed.

AC Bicolour Ragdoll Neuter
1 PC & BoB Sprot's ADMEWLO JOELOFRAGALYN. 66 31a 06-06-2002
I was most impressed indeed with this superb youngster, at just over 12 months he really has so many qualities and so very few failings …. if he continues to develop he will most certainly be in the top league of neuters and will most certainly give them all a run for their money. It is difficult to realise that he is so very young, especially in a breed which matures so slowly. Head of excellent shape. Excellent broad, flat top of head. Correct profile with nose of excellent length. Ears of perfect size and shape, correctly set. Eyes very good shape and set. Good short strong neck. Excellent long well boned body in muscular condition. Strong well boned limbs. Coat of excellent length and texture --- even in the middle of a heat wave! Excellent markings, very good points colour, showing just a bit of ghost markings on head. Groomed and presented to perfection. Excellent friendly chap who seemed to enjoy the attention. Well deserving of PC and BoB. I understand that this made him up to Premier, congratulations to his breeder, and to his owner for showing him in such perfect condition.

Asian Smoke or Burmilla Adult Male
1 & CC Holt & Higgins BEANNOCHT AIOSTEN 72 43nq 28-10-2002
This youngster at only just adult certainly shows a great deal of promise. Head of overall good type. Ears very good shape and set. Very good profile, though needs to grow into his nose. Excellent eye shape. Excellent body type. Good tail length. Coat of good texture, but a little longer than desired. I was concerned by his colour, he is a rather dark caramel, and is very heavily shaded; in the hall lighting he did not appear to show any evidence of Burmese expression. I conferred with two other judges on this point and they agreed, but we concluded that in the hall lighting it was difficult to be certain, and I therefore awarded the CC ….. though I have the strong feeling that his registration might need amending. A most interesting chap showing a great deal of promise, CC well deserved.

Asian Smoke or Burmilla Adult Female
1 CC & BoB Payne's KUKUMUNGA GARCIA 72 43nq 20-06-02
This exhibit was really quite outstanding and certainly did impress me. Excellent head shape. Excellent ears with perfect top of head. Excellent profile showing superb nose length. Excellent muzzle. Excellent eye shape. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent shading. A delight to handle and a pleasure to judge. Congratulations to owners/breeder.

2 Holt & Higgins' NEMOREZ THREETIMES ALADY 72 43bq 19-05-02
Excellent head type overall. Excellent top of head, very good profile, strong chin with perfect bite. Very good muzzle shape. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and texture, Even light shading. Excellent temperament. She was indeed unlucky to meet the winner, and is most certainly of CC standards.

Asian Smoke or Burmilla Kitten
1 & BoB Johnson's NEMOREZ CATCHA FALLINGSTAR 72 43sq 26-01-03 A very stroppy little madam who hasn't learned what showing is about …. the idea is to impress the Judge, not try to eat them! A really promising kitten of overall excellence. Excellent head type. Excellent ears, top of head and profile. Perfect nose length. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and texture, well shaded. She should do really well provided her temper improves … she nearly wasn't judged.

Asian Self / Tortie Neuter
1 PC n/a Fowler's ONIKA BLACKBENBECULA 72 27-04-01
A large friendly chubby chap with a superb temperament, which unfortunately try though he did could not mask his type!! Head overall rather long for balance. Ears of good size and set. Skull very flat, which combined with a long nose spoiled his profile. Body type a little heavy. Coat of good texture but too long. Colour dense to roots. Excellent temperament. Unfortunately I did not feel the award of PC was justified.

Oriental Grand Champion Female
Gr Ch: Klokow's CH BAKENEKO NO WORRIES 37fn 18-07-1999
Head of very good shape overall. Ears of excellent shape and size, correctly set. Skull just a little flat, detracting from an otherwise very good profile, chin could be stronger. Excellent lines to wedge. Light green eyes of excellent shape and set. Very good body type, well balanced legs, tail needing a little more taper. Coat of very good length and texture, and appeared to be of correct colour in the hall lighting, not quite sound to the roots. A nice cat in good condition, pleased to award her a Grand.

Oriental Long Hair Adult Female
I judged this class in the absence of Mrs E Biggie.
1 CC & BoB Emerton's LORICHA KADABRA 62 43n 19-08-00
I have judged this exhibit on numerous occasions and have always been greatly impressed with her, today was no exception. She is of excellent Oriental type, and has a superb coat …. added to that she is the most wonderful colour. She is an outstanding example of the breed. Excellent head type, showing true Oriental type and perfect balance. Large ears of excellent shape and set. Excellent top of head, profile, and firm chin. Excellent muzzle shape with perfect lines to wedge. Even in the orange hall lighting her eyes were clear green in colour, perfect shape. Excellent body type carried on long dainty limbs. Excellent coat length and texture with no tendency to being woolly. Such a delight to handle a cat with a full coat of the correct texture. Excellent shading. Excellent temperament and condition. Both owner and breeder must be very proud of her.

2 North's TENAJ MISHKANA GOLD 62 15b 08-09-02
An extremely promising youngster, and unlucky to meet the above, unfortunately on the day maturity did count. Ears of excellent size, shape and set. Very good top of head, excellent profile. Green eyes of excellent shape and set. Coat of excellent length and texture, very good even brown colouring, showing just a bit of sun bleach. She is still very much a kitten and does need to mature in order to compete with the big girls. Certainly a youngster with very great promise.

Oriental Shaded Kitten
1 & BoB Bowen's CHOCTAW SMOHALLA 43ps 04-03-03
Ears of very good shape and set. Fair top of head. Very good profile overall, though has a slight depression at the brow. Eyes a little full but of correct shape and good green colour. Muzzle rather long and narrow. Very good coat length and texture. Excellent colour, excellent shading, very good silver ground.

Oriental Shaded Neuter Male
1 Cook's HEYBURY TOBYMORY 43d 08-06-99
A nice chap of overall good type. Ears large and well set. Good top of head, good profile. Eyes a little full. Excellent body type, good muscular build. Well proportioned legs, tail needing a little more taper. Coat of good length and texture. Unfortunately I whilst could see some evidence of shading, there also appeared to be a lot of ticking present …… had he been a Red Ticked I would, in the hall lighting, probably have awarded a PC. Very difficult to assess his pattern in the lighting, but there certainly was too much ticking in evidence. A lovely friendly chap who certainly enjoyed the attention …. honest Mum he did try his best!!
