CHESTER & NORTH WALES CLUB SHOW
13thAugust 2005
My thanks to Chris Titterington and committee for the
invitation to judge - this years show was held in Queensferry, less than 30
minutes from home! My Mother, Betty Harrison, who had been unwell for some
months decided to honour her judging engagement and thoroughly enjoyed her day
judging the cats entered under her, sadly it proved to be her last engagement
as she had a major stroke three days later and will be unable to judge again.
It was good that she was able to enjoy this day, and I am grateful to Chris for
giving her a light book.
I was delighted with the quality of the
Oriental entry especially some of the youngsters, it is seldom I handle so many
quality exhibits in this section at one show! Many thanks to Barbara for
stewarding for me.
Oriental Grand Premier Male

PC : Fowler's GR CH & GR PR PIENA SYDNEYNOTASPOT
I have had the
pleasure of judging this chap in the past and there is little I can add to my
previous comments - he is a cat of overall excellence and conforms so well to
the SoP. Having lost a little weight he does look much better! Large well
placed ears of excellent shape and set. Excellent top of head and profile.
Excellent lines to wedge. Excellent eye shape and set, clearest green colour.
Good body type and length. Coat of very good length and texture, excellent
caramel colour showing heavy shading. As always a real pleasure to handle.
Res Grand : Cogan's GR PR FIORDILISO SUNDANCE KID 29
A fine
example of the Havana, so typical of many with this prefix. Ears of excellent
size, shape and set. Excellent profile overall, just a little raised at the
bridge of the nose making him look a little too Roman nosed. Green eyes of
excellent shape and set. Excellent chin line with good depth. Correct bite.
Very good lines to wedge. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and
texture. Excellent rich colour, but unfortunately not quite sound to the roots.
Also considered : McParlin's PR FOXYPAWS RAMASSES 43a
Completing a very nice trio of top class neuters and extremely unlucky not
to get a certificate, This very nice chap and I haven't met before so we had a
very pleasant time! Head of overall excellence, strong and masculine, but still
very refined. Ears large and of excellent shape and set. Excellent profile,
strong chin and correct bite. Very good lines to wedge giving strength to the
muzzle. Excellent eye shape and set. Excellent body type. Elegant limbs, well
tapered tail. Coat of very good colour, rather heavy shading and I would like a
little more base colour. Hope I meet this delightful lad for another chat!

RENAISSANCE
A delightful lady of excellent Asian type. Head of overall
excellence. Ears of good size and shape perfectly set., Very good profile, neat
nose and muzzle. Excellent eye shape and set. Excellent body type. Tail a
little short perhaps. Coat of excellent texture but I would prefer it a little
shorter. Excellent colour, very even shading on clear silver ground - totally
free from tarnishing. A delightful exhibit and certainly well deserving of
CC.
Asian Smoke Burmilla Neuter

GR PR RAINSONG PASHMINA
I have judged this lady many times before - I
thought we were mates! Today she was very stroppy and it was difficult to
assess her - she was nearly marked CNH. Excellent top of head. Ears possibly a
little small for balance. Good profile despite the wrinkled nose, and she would
insist on keep showing me her bite which was very untidy and certainly diod her
no favours! Coat of good length but very open and ridged along spine.
Definitely not in contention for a PC today!

1 PC & BoB Bayley's CH & PR ADVERSANE
BLACK ARACHNE
A lady of overall medium type. Head of good overall type.
Ears just a little small for perfection. Good profile, though just a little
long in the nose. Eyes excellent shape and set. Body of very good type Good
legs and tail. Short close lying coat of very good texture. Dense black to the
roots. I hesitated over awarding a PC, but decided that her overall appearance
warranted it.
Foreign White Adult
Considered for BoB :
Bauerfeind's GR CH SHIMILEETA ARROGANTPRINCE 4yr 2mnth
Considered for BoB :
Bauerfeind's GR CH SHIMILEETA HELLODOLLY 3yrs 9mnth
I was very disappointed
that I was unable to award the BoB to either of these cats both of which in
their time were excellent examples of the Variety. Today however they both had
clearly long passed their prime and lacked sparkle - I felt neither warranted
the award. Unfortunately I judge what I see on the day and do not take account
of earlier times.
Oriental Black Adult

In two words this cat is quite outstanding. I
cannot remember handling a better Oriental Black for many years. Head of
overall excellence. Ears of excellent size, shape and set. Clear brilliant
green eyes of good size, just a little full. Excellent profile & chin.
Excellent lines to wedge marred by slight pinch. Excellent body type though
perhaps a little plump! Excellent legs and tail. Excellent coat length and
texture. Excellent dense black colour. Excellent temperament. A pleasure to
judge and a credit to her breeders and her owner.
2 Byrne's VELVETEENA

Of fair type overall. Ears a little small and high set. Flat
