COVENTRY and LEICESTER CAT CLUB

22nd February 2003

My thanks to Show Managers Mark Lewis and Julian Hague and their team for inviting me to judge once again, and indeed for organising such a large and popular show. My judging book, which was already pretty hefty increased considerably as the result of the absence of various judges and without a steward, by not talking to anyone and skipping lunch I managed to finish judging by 2pm!

My thanks to Mark Lewis for arranging to have my certificates ready for signing early and enabling to dash back to North Wales and then on to Gatwick for a flight to Egypt the following morning. Certainly not the best piece of planning!

AOV Foreign Premier Female
Gr PC Rae's PR RAKEERI BLUE MIST 72/43g
What a superb tempered old lady - she used every trick in the book to get a certificate … and she succeeded! A small dainty female of overall good Asian type. Ears good shape and set, with pleasing top of head. Good profile. Muzzle just a little square. Excellent body type. Coat a fraction long, but close lying and of excellent texture. Very good colour distribution. I would like to have seen this cat in daylight. Superb condition & temperament - what a lovely character!

Res Cooper's PR BORONGA RED SOLARA 72d
Ears a little small but of good set. Good profile overall, though I thought the nose a bit long for perfection. Very good body type. Tail short for balance. Coat a little long. Very good rich red colouring, very even. Excellent temperament & condition.

Oriental Tortie Adult
1 CC & BoB Peel's FIORDILISO VOODOO QUEEN 37e A very promising youngster, still very much a kitten. Ears of excellent shape and set, very good size. Excellent top of head. Pleasing profile. Excellent eye shape and set, colour just a little pale. Excellent body type, slender limbs and balanced tail. Excellent coat length and texture. Very good colour, sound to roots. A very pleasing youngster indeed.

Oriental Ticked Adult Female
1 CC & BoB n/a Lumley's JADEVYN AUTUMNSILK 45h A stylish female of overall excellence. Ears of excellent size, shape and set. Skull just a little flat giving a rather angular profile. Eyes of excellent shape and set, perfect size. Excellent body type with elegant legs and dainty paws. Balanced tail. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent ticking with banding extending almost to skin. Excellent colour. A superb example of a Ticked Tabby. Unfortunately this superb queen has an abnormality of the sternum which was confirmed by the Duty Vet and accordingly I was unable to award the CC or BoB.

Havana Kitten
1 & BoB Matthews MISHKANA AMBERSTAR
What a very nice little female! Head of overall excellence. Ears very good size, shape and set. Excellent lines to wedge. Very good profile, though top of head just a little flat. Excellent eye shape. Good chin line, correct bite. Coat of very good length and texture, excellent rich colour, but not quite sound to the roots. A most promising youngster.

2 Falconer's TENAJ WOODSPRITE
Head of very good type overall. Ears large and well set. Profile showing slight dip, but otherwise good. Chin just a fraction shallow. Eyes good shape and set, tendency to squint. Excellent green colour. Excellent body type. Balanced legs and tail. Coat of excellent length and texture, excellent colour though not quite sound to the roots. Another promising youngster.

3 Hughes ELFLOW BUNGGIE
Head of good overall type. Ears fair size, well set. Fair profile. Muzzle very square spoiling lines to wedge. Body of fairly good type. Tail very thick and lacking taper. Coat of good colour, but not sound.

4 Hughes ELFLOW COHCOH QUWEAM
Head of fair type. Skull rather uneven, dip to nose. Muzzle very square. Excellent eye shape and set. Good body type. Coat colour very pale with noticeably paler roots.

Oriental Black Kitten
1 BoB n/a Debowska's NITERAP BLACKBANSHEE Head overall lacking the desired Oriental look. Ears of fair shape and size but bonneted. Profile very uneven. Muzzle showing severe pinch, cheek bones very prominent and lacking substance under them. Excellent body type. Elegant legs and balanced well tapered tail. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent colour and sound to the roots.

Oriental Red Neuter
1 PC & BoB Mackenzie's CH & PR PASHTAN XMAN
Excellent strong head type. Ears excellent size, shape and set. Excellent green eyes of correct shape and set. Very good profile - though I did not like the very noticeable occiput. Excellent body type, very good strong muscular condition. Excellent legs and tail. Superb rich red colour showing minimal markings - what a delightful Oriental Gent! Well deserving of PC

2 Cook's HEYBURY YENTAI GERRIE
Ears good shape and set, very good size. Head overall a little narrow for balance and muzzle rather pinched. Chin a little shallow. Excellent body type. Coat of very good length and texture, markings quite prominent, fair depth of colour.
