COVENTRY and LEICESTER CAT CLUB

My thanks to the Committee for inviting me to judge once
again. Each year the show seems just a little better than before, and this year
was no exception. The Club is indebted to Mark and Julian for the expertise
they bring to their role as Show Managers. A most excellent show indeed. My
thanks to good friend Barbara Fellows for stewarding for me once again, Barbara
had only returned from Australia on Wednesday and as I got back from Egypt on
Tuesday we had a bit to catch up on …. and mutter about the snow and ice
which kept quite a few exhibitors at home! In the absence of my Mother, due to
another dislocation of her replacement hip, I judged several of her classes, I
hope exhibitors were not too disappointed with my placings.

A very mature gent
of overall excellence. Ears of excellent size shape and set with perfect
forward tilt. Excellent flat top of head with very pleasing profile, though to
be critical I felt his nose was just a trifle long. Very well defined cheeks,
very good muzzle. Eye of excellent shape and size, and of exceptionally clear
deep royal blue colour. Excellent body type showing both strength of bone,
musculature and length combined with the desired short neck. Excellent coat
length and texture, well marked and of good colour. A delightful tempered old
chap. A fine example of the breed and well deserving of the CC & BoB.

A queen of excellent head and body type
with superb size and substance. Excellent top of head. Ears of correct size,
shape and set. Nose a trifle long, but otherwise she has a superb profile.
Excellent muzzle shape, well defined cheeks. Eyes a little pale but of very
good size and shape. Excellent body type with good strength of bone.
Unfortunately this delightful queen had most definitely left her coat behind
despite the cold weather! Her coat was so short and sparse that I was left with
no alternative but to withhold the CC - such a pity in a queen of such
excellent type.

This is indeed a most attractive and promising chap. He is large
and well grown for his age and is of overall excellent type. Ears excellent
size and set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Excellent cheeks
definition and muzzle shape. Bright blue eyes of excellent shape and size.
Excellent strength of body with good bone and muscle tone. Good long back with
short neck. Excellent coat length and texture, excellent points colour and
contrast. Excellent condition and temperament. A delightful tempered chap who
certainly shows very great promise. I was very surprised indeed that he didn't
get the BoB, but I felt the Female just had the edge --- though in truth it's a
pity there had to be a BoB because they both deserved it!

ADTRELO LATTE PAVANE 66a 25-06-2003
A well grown lad of overall very
good type. Good head type. Very good top of head. Excellent nose length,
profile just a little shallow for perfection. Very good cheeks and well shaped
muzzle. Eyes good size but rather pale in colour. Excellent body length. Well
grown and showing good strength of bone. Very good coat length and texture. A
very pleasing kitten.
3 Derry's SPIRITDANCERS BLUEMOON 66a

This little chap was the baby of the class and though he was of
very good size and weight for his age he really was at a disadvantage ….
but, it has to be said cute with it! Good top of head for age. Ears well set.
Good profile, good length nose. Cheeks showing promising development. Good
muzzle and excellent chin. Eyes rather pale and very full, hopefully he will
grow into them with age. Coat of immature kitten fluff. Excellent condition and
temperament.

Head of fairly good type overall. Skull rather too rounded. Fair
profile. Eyes good size, rather pale in colour. Good cheeks. Muzzle a little
pointed. Excellent body type, showing good strength of bone. Coat very good
length and texture, well marked face and legs. Excellent condition. An
attractive lad.
5 Chandler's ZOLYN SOMELIKEITHOT 66 30-07-2003
A well grown kitten of fair type. Ears set rather high and carried upright.
Good top of head and profile. Cheeks developing. Eyes rather round and pale in
colour. Good size body of correct type. Coat of good length but needing more
show preparation.
6 Jones' GROOVICATS JUMPINJAK FLASH 66
28-07-2003 A large well grown chap of good substance. Excellent strong bone.
Eyes very full and made more noticeable by the presence of spectacles. Fair top
of head and profile. Fair cheeks. Tail defect noted. Coat of good length and
texture but very dark for age.

What a delightful kitten! I did contemplate doing a runner with
this Little Miss! To say I was impressed with her is a bit of an
understatement!! A very promising kitten of overall excellence. Ears of very
good size and shape with correct setting. Bright blue eyes of excellent shape
and size. Excellent top of head, profile and nose length. Excellent definition
to cheeks, with lovely muzzle shape. Chin could be a little deeper for
perfection. Excellent body type. Short neck, good length back, well balanced
tail. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent points colour with very
definite contrast. Excellent condition and temperament. A really beautiful
kitten who, if she fulfils this early promise, should have a great show career
ahead of her.
2 Griffiths' SPIRITDANCERS PATCHWORK 66ew

A well grown female of excellent solid type, certainly no
lightweight - but for her colour I would have assumed that she was a male!
Excellent top of head. Ears good shape and set, though they appeared a little
oversize but this may well be an optical illusion. Excellent profile with
perfect nose length. Excellent cheeks and muzzle shape. Excellent body type.
Excellent length back, solid bones and well muscled. Excellent coat length and
texture. I did feel that the body showed rather more tortie markings than
desired. Excellent rich colouring with clear delineation from mitts. Ears
showing perfectly balanced red/cream tips which possible makes them look a
little large. A most attractive lady with a delightful nature and very good
conformation to the SoP. Shown in excellent condition. She was indeed most
unlucky to meet the winner.
3 Long's OSOCOOL MEMPHISBELLE 66a

A nice kitten of overall good type, certainly no disgrace to
come third in this competition. Ears good shape and set. Good skull. Very good
profile, good nose length. Eyes a little round and rather pale. Very good
muzzle, cheeks need better definition. Very good body type. Excellent coat
length and texture. Excellent condition.

A kitten of typical Cornish type and character! Head
overall of very good type and proportions. Ears of good size and shape with
well rounded tips, set high on the head giving him a very alert appearance.
Excellent flat top of head, fairly good profile overall though showing just a
slight dip to the nose. Very good eye shape and size. Wedge of medium length.
Muzzle just a little fine. Excellent elegant body type with tall slender legs,
standing well on toes. Very good tail length and taper. Very good short coat
length of excellent texture, showing good rexing to the sides, but
unfortunately the coat on the dorsal area was very sparse, and the top of the
tail rubbed bare. I withheld the BoB, with some regret, from this very
promising kitten solely due to the bare tail. A great fidget and far too
interested in everything else to pay over much attention to the judge!

Very good
flat top of head. Profile spoiled by a pronounced dip and a down turned tip to
nose. Ears of good size but rather wide set with a tendency to be flared. Good
medium wedge. Excellent muzzle. Eyes of good size and correct oval shape.
Elegant neck. Good body type though I felt limbs, though of very good length,
were just a little heavy. Good length tail needing a little more taper. Coat of
very good texture, perhaps just a little long for perfection. Fairly well rexed
showing ripples on the body, but perfectly straight on legs. Excellent
condition and temperament. Superb soft lilac colouring.

Head overall rather too long and fine. Ears of very good
size, fair shape and set. Skull a little rounded and profile overall too
oriental. Eyes good shape and size. Muzzle very fine and pointed, chin rather
shallow. Excellent set of crinkled whiskers. Very good body type, slender legs
and dainty paws. Coat very short and showing waves all over.

A wonderful example of an
Oriental. Excellent large ears of perfect shape and set. Excellent top of head.
Excellent profile. Excellent lines to wedge. Vivid green eyes of excellent
shape and set. Excellent body type, perfectly balanced legs and tail. Coat of
excellent length and texture. Superb Caramel colour. Rather heavy shading
showing negligible pattern on good colour ground. A stunning cat, surely one of
the best Orientals I have handled for many years. Superb condition and
temperament, a real pleasure to judge him.

Ears good size and shape, well set. Fair top of head and profile, though
shows slight skull depression. Muzzle shows severe pinch and lacks substance
under the cheeks. Chin very shallow. Eyes of good green colour, just a little
exaggerated in set. Muzzle overall rather too long and narrow. Coat of very
good length and texture. Good rich colour well mingled on fair silver ground,
very well shaded - certainly a most attractive coat. Unfortunately I felt that
the overall muzzle weakness, lack of substance and weak chin precluded the
award of the CC.

A very
attractive kitten showing great promise. Excellent head type overall. Ears
large and well set with excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Excellent eye
shape and set, good size and very good colour. Excellent body type. Excellent
coat length and texture, superb mid-blue in colour and sound to the roots. A
delightful kitten shown in excellent condition. I shall watch her progress with
interest. Congratulations to owner and breeder.

APRIKAT SHADOWSINTHESKY 62/20 10-06-2003 A large well grown lad of
overall excellent type. Ears of excellent size, shape and set. Superb top of
head with near perfect profile. Good strong chin. Excellent eye shape and set.
Excellent body type, long limbs and tapered tail. Coat very fine textured, but
far too short - apart from his tail he really could pass as a shorthair. I hope
with age he develops a better coat length. I hesitated over the BoB but as his
type is so superb I gave him the benefit of the doubt. A superb natured lad
shown in wonderful condition.

A very elegant chap. Very good head shape overall. Large ears of
excellent shape and set. Green eyes of excellent shape, size and set. Pleasing
profile. Excellent body type with balanced legs and tail. Excellent coat length
and texture, soft warm colour which unfortunately was not quite sound to the
roots, none the less he was well worthy of the IC.

and well set. Eyes rather yellow in colour. Fair profile. Limbs a little heavy.

gent of very good basic Oriental type, nothing 'flashy' about this lad! Head of
good type. Ears large and well set. Very good top of head and profile. Eyes
just a little full. Body of good type, shown in muscular condition. Tail rather
thick and lacking sufficient taper . Coat of good length and texture. Coat of
very good rich red, showing some ticking but overall well shaded.
