CUMBERLAND CAT CLUB SHOW

13th October 2007

The Cumberland has always been an enjoyable show and this year was no exception. My thanks to Jennifer, Ian and the Committee for inviting me to judge once again. Though the venue has a lot to commend it the hall lighting is not at all helpful in assessing colour, and so this had to be taken into account! My thanks to Mark for stewarding.

Oriental Imperial Grand Premier Male
Imp Gr Ch to McParlin's GR PR FOXYPAWS RAMASSES 43a 25/09/03
A very handsome chap with a superb temperament. Head of excellent shape and balance. Ears of very good size, shape and set. Excellent top of head, excellent profile, even bite, good firm chin. Obviously green eyes of excellent shape and size, correctly set. Good lines to muzzle. Good nexk length. Long elegant body with well balanced legs. Tail of fairly good length and taper. Short close lying coat of excellent texture. A good even blue to body which now shows only the vaguest of tabby markings, on the he now has more than 50% undercolour and generally has a very well shaded coat. Shown in excellent condition. This delightful gent has a suberb temperament and he was determined to impress the judge!! Well deserving of the Imperial …. it shouldn't be long before he gains his title.

Havana Neuter Male
1 PC n/a Davies' SNOWSEAL MAXIMUM IMPACT 30/09/06
A most attractive cat of overall excellent type and balance. Ears large and well set with excellent width between. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Correct bite. Very good chin line. Excellent muzzle and lines to wedge. Long neck. Excellent body type with good length and elegance. Long legs. Tail good length and taper. Coat just a little long though close lying, excellent texture. Unfortunately whilst the colour was superficially very even, it was so very unsound and in parts had such pale roots that he almost looked a Smoke. I withheld the PC with some regrets because until the coat is parted he does look so very good: but unfortunately the coat is so important in this breed. Excellent condition and temperament.

Asian Tiffanie Adult Female
1 CC & BoB Hamilton's INYANGA SEA MIST 68 43asq 23/10/06
A delightful young lady, at under a year of age showing great promise. Head of good overall shape. Ears of good size, very well set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile, very good bite, good chin line. Very good muzzle shape. Excellent body type, maybe just a little lightweight, but she's plenty of time for growing. Excellent length coat of pretty near perfect texture - a real delight to touch! Good light shading on excellent deep silver ground. A very attractive lady the CC awarded without any hesitation! A very pleasing exhibit and a friendly lass as well! Can't ask for more.

Asian Tabby Female Kitten
Wrong Pattern : Brooksbank's LUNBROOK KISSME HONEYHONEY 72 45bq 10/04/07
I inadvertently marked this lass 'Wrong Colour' whereas in reality it was not the colour but the pattern I questioned. A kitten of overall excellent type who was very difficult to fault. She has excellent head type combined with excellent body type and really is a most attractive lass of some quality. The hall lighting did not help assessing her colour/pattern, but I concluded that she is not a Ticked Tabby: even allowing for the 'Burmese' restriction I would expect more evidence of ticking on the body. Other than along the spine there was no apparent ticking present, and her appearance was far more in keeping with 43bq. A sweet natured lass, very attractive and such a pity I couldn't place her.

Asian Self/Tortie Female Kitten
1 & BoB Fryer's ELMYRA BLACK BERRY 72 18/02/07 A pleasing kitten of overall very good type. Ears of good shape and set. Very good top of head. Very good profile, neat nose. Very good muzzle shape. Correct bite, good chin. Eyes of very good shape and set. Body of very good type with perfectly balanced legs and tail. Short close lying coat of very good texture, unfortunately the coat is rather grey at the roots, I contemplated withholding the BoB but concluded that given her age there is time for this to improve - though I would not be overly optimistic. Overall a very pleasing lass.

Asian Smoke or Burmilla Neuter
BoB Brooksbank's GR PR LUNBROOK CAFEAULAIT 72 42bq 10/03/05
A cat of overall pleasing type, though I would prefer the skull not to be so flat. Coat of fair length and texture. Fairly even coat colour with a reasonable smoke base. Certainly deserving of BoB.

Asian Tabby Neuter Female
1 PC & BoB Brooksbank's CH & GR PR LUNBROOK ROSAMUNDI 72 45sq 25/10/04
Head of overall very good type. Ears good shape and set, top of head rather too flat. Very expressive eyes of good shape. Good profile. Correct bite. Good chin. Very good body type and in very good 'show' condition. Balanced legs and tail. Coat a little long and rather soft and fluffy. Excellent ticking on silver ground which appeared to be of a clear colour. Well deserving of PC & BoB.

Tabby Point Siamese Male Kitten
1 & BoB Page's ASHJOLEX ZACHARYBINX 32/1 27/04/07
A very attractive kitten of overall pleasing type. Head of very good shape and correct balance. Large ears of very good shape, correctly set with good width between. Excellent top of head. Excellent even profile. Clear blue eyes of excellent shape and set. Muzzle showing slight teething pinch, but otherwise this lad had very good lines to wedge. Long slim body of very good type, good length limbs, paws just a little heavy at present. Tail just a fraction short for balance, fairly well tapered. Short close lying coat of very good texture. Ears and face showing good dense seal markings. Good thumbprints. Facial markings showing well with distinct ribbons to cheeks. Legs showing feint barring, tail rings rather indistinct. Body colour showing warmth, excellent contrast with mask and ears. A very pleasing kitten well deserving the BoB.

2 Robb's RIVANESS DOUBLEOHSEVEN 32/1 29/05/07
This laddie was a full month younger than the winner, and was a much larger kitten, but very much a baby! Ears of excellent size and shape, very well set. Excellent top of head. Very good profile overall spoiled by slight dip to the nose. Correct bite. Very good chin line. Eyes of good size and correct set, but very full with slightly hooded eyelids. Fairly good blue colour. Muzzle very square spoiling lines to wedge. Excellent body length and type. Very good length legs, needing to grow into paws! Tail of excellent length, well tapered. Coat of good length and texture. Facial and leg marking rather lacking in intensity of colour even allowing for age. Clear evidence of stripes extending over the top of the head. Excellent condition and temperament.
