CUMBERLAND CAT CLUB

12th October 1997

John S Harrison

I started off, intentionally, without a Steward and somehow along the way managed to pick up Marjorie Stafford!!! Many thanks for your help Marjorie, but most of all thanks for your company, which as always I thoroughly enjoyed EVEN if you hadn't got any Acid Drops!!!

ORIENTAL RED Adult Male

1, CC & BoB. Hall's ADQUASH TAIPAN FIRE. Rather a nervous chappie who took a bit of coaxing to get him to show to advantage. A lovely masculine well balanced head of correct Oriental type. Excellent lines to wedge. Ears of very good size and shape, correctly set. Very good profile overall though just a little uneven on the skull. Lovely strong chin line. Bite appeared correct despite a shortage of teeth. Eyes very good shape and set, colour a good strong green for a Red. He was very tense but the body appeared to be of good type and length. Tail rather short and thick for perfect balance. Coat of good length and texture, and of the most excellent rich colouring. Nice chap well deserving the CC.

ORIENTAL RED Adult Female

1, CC Hamilton's TRELGANDORF AMBERGLOW Head of good length and balance. Muzzle showing a pinch which spoils the lines of the wedge. Ears very good size and set. Pleasing profile. Very good eye shape, size and set, reasonable colour. Body of very good length and type. Tail short for balance. Coat of good length and texture. Good colour. Pattern evident to sides, but dorsal area fairly solid. Overall a pleasing exhibit.

ORIENTAL SHADED Adult Female

1 CC & BoB Fellows CH CHELANCA PENTLANDITE. 43ps. A quality cat conforming so very well to the Oriental standard. She shows no tendency to any form of exaggeration of type, and is to me everything an Oriental should be - judging by her consistent performance at shows she seems to appeal to almost all Judges, even those with a leaning to more 'flashy' type! Superbly balanced head overall. Large well placed ears with a wonderful top of head. Good strong wedge. Excellent profile. Eyes of very good shape and set, but I'd like them to be a bit smaller! A rather pale green, but very good colour for a Silver Tortie. Body of very good type and length. Tail could be longer and finer for perfection. Coat of excellent length and texture. Wonderful mixture of caramel and apricot tipping on a superb silver ground. Body, legs and tail totally devoid of tabby markings. This mature queen is so relaxed and has the perfect show temperament.

ORIENTAL RED Kitten

1 & BoB Blohm's TINKLEBURY CHARLIE CHAN. A dear little chap of 4 months. Head of overall very good shape. Ears of very good size and shape, very well set when relaxed but being an inquisitive little type he forgets and tends to hold them a little upright. Eyes of very good shape and set, colour seemed about right. Muzzle showing a teething pinch, the bone structure was correct. Body of good type. Well balanced tail. Coat of good length and texture, and of a really excellent colour.

ORIENTAL RED Neuter Male

1 PC & BoB Mitchie's PR FISEPO SARATOGA RED. Head not quite fully balanced, I couldn't quite decide why! Ears though of good shape and set are perhaps a little small and maybe a little high set for perfection --- though nothing seriously adrift. Very good profile overall. Good chin line. Eyes of very good shape and set, excellent colour. Very good body length, tail a little short and thick for perfection. Coat of good length and texture, lovely rich colour. Despite the quibbles a pleasing cat, and well worth the PC.

ORIENTAL RED Neuter Female

1 Morrison's BAROUSHKA DAWN GLOW. Head of fair type overall. Ears too small for balance. Skull far too flat, with resulting angular profile. Eyes are far toolarge, though of good shape and set. Body of fair type. Balanced tail. Coat of good length and texture. Some body markings, but the dorsal area really is the richest reds I've seen for a long while. Sorry I didn't feel that she was up to PC standard.

ORIENTAL SHADED Neuter Female

1 PC & BoB. Cook's HEYBURY MADAM LEELA 43n. Whilst I wouldn't call this lady FAT I do think that a diet would be advantageous!! Head of overall good balanced type. Ears of good size and set. Profile could be a little more even. Muzzle showing a slight pinch. Eyes of very good set and size, for perfection I'd prefer a less straight upper rim. Very good colour. Body of good type and length ( even allowing for plumpness!!). Coat of very good length and texture. Good colour shading showing some markings, on an excellent quality base. For a standard shaded this lass really has quality shading. Certainly well worthy of the PC.
