EDINBURGH & EAST OF SCOTLAND CAT CLUB

June 24th 2000

John S Harrison

My thanks to Margaret Walkden and committee for inviting me to Judge at the show. Many thanks to Mark for stewarding for me in his usual inimitable manner. We were able to combine the show with a short holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Scotland.

NORWEIGAN FOREST CAT

Adult Female

1 CC & BoB N/A Luff’s VIEUXTEMPS MIELIKKI. 67/20g. 05-08-99
An attractive young female, but she is too small and finely built. Ears of good size and shape, correctly set when relaxed. Head rather too broad for balance. Fair profile overall, though on close examination it shows three changes of direction. Excellent coat length and texture. Very attractive colouring. She really does have a superb temperament

2 Docherty’s ELFENTANZ BJOERNA. 67/15. 05/08/99.
Head overall too broad for length. Ears of good shape but unfortunately set too wide apart and carried rather low. Fair profile, more angular than I like in this breed. Eyes good shape and set. A rather small cat though of overall good body type and length, with good height to legs - she just needs more size. Well balanced tail. Coat of very good texture and length. Excellent black colour.

Neuter Male

1 PC & BoB. N/A Crowe’s PR MAELSTROM HOFVARPNIR. 67/31. 17/11/95
Ears of very good size and shape, but set rather wide and carried a little low. Skull overall rather broad. Eyes of good shape and set. Profile far too angular. Chin shallow. Very strong body of excellent type. Very good coat texture, though a little short at present.

2 Herbert's ADDEILO TRYGGVE. 67/20 11/06/92
Head too broad for correct balance. Ears of good size but set too wide apart. Eyes fair shape and set. Fairly good profile. A very large chap, but carrying too much weight. Coat of good length and texture.

Male Kitten

1 Crowe's HINDARFIALL SCREAMADELICA. 67/20 15/12/99
Ears of very good shape and set. Fair profile. Chin very shallow. Excellent eye shape though set a little deep. Excellent body type and length. Well balanced tail. Very good coat length and texture, attractive colour/markings. An excellent tempered young man.

2 Johnstone's TUYET MURCHADH 67/31T 18/11/99
Head overall too broad for length. Ears good shape but set too wide. Excellent eye shape and set. Muzzle rather broad. Fair profile overall, just a little too angular. Excellent size and build, of corect type. Excellent coat length and texture.

Female Kitten

1 & BoB McMillan's TUYET MHAIRI TARA. 67/20 18/11/99
Ears of very good shape, size and set. Fairly good in profile. Excellent eye shape and set. A well built youngster, excellent body type and length. Well balanced tail. Excellent coat length and texture. Certainly a bit of a charmer!

RAGDOLL

Colourpoint or Mitted Adult Male

1 IC N/A Gilyeat's DOROMAS LEONARDO. 66AW. 02-07-99
Fair head type overall. Ears of good size and correct set. Nose a little too long. Fair profile. Fairly good muzzle but cheeks need better definition. Bite not quite even. Fairly good body size. Well balanced overall. Good coat length and texture. Good points colour and well marked.

Colourpoint or Mitted Adult Female

1 IC N/A Gilchrist’s AZZCOINE VENETIA. 66a. 12-09-97
An attractive exhibit of overall good type but for her age she needs to be larger. Ears of very good shape and set. Excellent profile, though nose is a little long long. Well defined cheeks, good muzzle, good firm chin. Eyes of good shape and set. Very good body type, but lacking sufficient size. Coat of good length and texture. Good points and body colour. I hesitated over the award of IC but felt she was lacking in size.

Bi-colour Adult Male

1 IC N/A Breslin's EMERISLE PORSCHA NINELEVEN 66/31A. 26/05/98
A cat of overall very good size and build. Ears of good size and set. Profile far too straight. Cheeks lacking definition resulting in an even wedge. Eyes of good shape and set. Very good body type. Coat of good length, but a little harsh in texture. Fairly even markings.

Bi-colour Adult Female

1 IC N/A McGee’s ROBRAGS JASMINS BEAU. 66/31. 12/07/98
Head of fair type overall. Ears rather small for balance and set a little high. Very good profile, with correct top of head. Eyes seemed to be correctly set, but were very full. Fairly good cheeks and muzzle. Body of good type overall, though just a little fine. Coat of good length and texture. Well marked.

Colourpoint or Mitted Neuter Male

1 IC N/A Henderson's ADDICTIKAT GUINEZZ 66 28/02/99
A large strongly built chap of pleasing overall type. Ears of good size and shape, carried a little high. Fair profile with good skull. Nose too long spoiling overall balance to head. Cheeks fairly well developed, but length of nose spoils muzzle. Excellent strongly built body of good size. Excellent coat length and texture. Good points colour, body a little dark. An attractive cat, but for the imbalance to head I would have awarded the IC.

2 Henderson’s AZZEDINE MOONSHADOW. 66A. 12-09-97
Ears of good size and shape. Good profile overall. Nose far too long. Fairly well developed cheeks. Eyes of good shape and set. Body of good size and type. Tail requires a little length for balance. Coat of good length and texture. Points of good colour.

3 Chappell's ADQUALO FEARLESS FRITZ 66 15/03/96
A large chap of very good build. Ears of good size and set. Fairly good profile. Nose far too long for balance. Cheeks need better definition. Good body type. Coat of good length. Good points colour, body very dark.

Colourpoint or Mitted Neuter Female

1 IC N/A Griffith’s PORSCHAPURRS CHARISMA. 66. 27-08-97
An exhibit of pleasing type, but she is very small lacking the size I expect in a three-year-old. Ears of good shape and set. Good strong skull. Very good profile. Nose of correct length, pleasing muzzle shape. Excellent cheeks. Eyes of good shape and set and excellent clear blue colour. Body of good type, but too small. Tail short for balance. Coat of very good length and texture. Very good points and body colour. Had there been more of this pleasing queen she would certainly have had the IC

Bi-Colour Neuter Male

1 IC N/A Chappell's POLLYWOFFLES MR MURRAY 66/31 16/04/99
A strongly built exhibit with excellent strength of bone. Ears of good size correct shape and set. Very good eye shape and set, good colour. Good profile and top of head. Cheeks lacking sufficient development, spoiling an otherwise good muzzle. Excellent body of good type. Coat very short and a rather harsh in texture. Good markings overall.

AV SLH Neuter Kitten

1 McFarlane's ADMILLO SHIROBANA KOVU 66a MN 21/11/99
A nice youngster of overall good type. Ears of good shape and set. Good profile. Fair muzzle, cheeks developing well. Eyes rather full. Good body type and size. Coat of good length and texture. Pleasing colour

1 & BoB Gilyeat's CATREBA CARMEN ROSE 66W 13/01/00
Head of very good type overall albeit a little small. Ears of good shape and set. Top of head a little rounded at present. Good profile. Very good muzzle, well developed cheeks. Excellent eye shape and set. Excellent body type and balance. Excellent coat length and texture. A pleasing kitten who needs to grow a bit!

2 Potter's ADDICTIKAT ARIZONAH 66a 20/11/99
Ears of fairly good set. Profile far too straight. Fair muzzle, cheeks require much more definition. Body of good type. Coat of good length and excellent texture. Excellent colour and markings.

FOREIGN SHORTHAIR

AOV Foreign Grand Female

Gd Ch Davidson's CH KARAKORAM MARIOKO 72/43SQ. 04/10/97.
A dainty queen of overall excellence. Head of very good overall type. Ears very good size, shape and set. Very good profile. Excellent neat nose. Very good muzzle. Excellent body type. Excellent short coat of perfect texture. Excellent colour and shading. A lovely tempered cat, I was delighted to award her a Grand. Congratulations to her owner/breeder.

TIFFANIE

Male Adult

1 IC N/A Ray's MAGNACATA BEAU BRANDO 68/42 01/12/98
Ears small and high in setting. Far too long in the nose, with a poor profile. Generally the head lacked the type I look for in an Asian. Fairly good body type. Coat very short and of fair texture. Fair colouring.

Female Adult

1 IC & BoB Ray's MAGNACATA MORGAINE LEFAYE. 68/45e 30/06/99
I was rather impressed with this lady, she does actually look like an Asian with a long coat! Head of very good type overall. Ears of very good size, shape and set. Excellent top of head. Very good profile. Eyes of good set, just a trifle full. Very good muzzle. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent colour and pattern.

2 Ray's MAGNACATA LYNETTE 68/43js 30/06/99
Very similar to her sister above. Her head is not quite as good in profile, and unfortunately had very full eyes.

3 Davidson's KARAKORAM FANTASY 68/43s
Head of fair type. Ears fair size but set a little high. Nose very long. Fair profile. Poor muzzle. Fair body type. Coat of good length, but very woolly in texture. Excellent colour and shading.

ORIENTAL SHORTHAIR

Havana Adult Female

1 cc & BoB Bruce's TRELGANDORF GEORGIE BROWN 14/04/99.
A pleasing Havana. Ears of very good size and correct setting. Very good profile. Excellent lines to wedge. Firm chin. Eyes of good shape and set, good colour. Excellent body type. Dainty legs, well balanced tail. Short coat of excellent texture. Lovely warm even colour, but not quite sound. A fine example of the breed and so I overlooked a little unsoundness.

Foreign White Adult Female

1 CC & BoB Janczyjk & McFarlane’s CH. STRAMASH WINTER BELLE. 35. 08-12-98
What can I say about this delightful lady other than she made my day. She has all the attributes I look for - with no sign of any exaggeration. This cat has perfect Oriental type. Head of overall excellence. Ears of excellent size, shape and set. Excellent profile with superb top of head. Eyes of excellent shape and set and of that seldom seen clear brilliant royal blue. Excellent wedge. Excellent Oriental body of type. Elegant legs. Tail a little short for balance ( but then no cat is perfect!!) Excellent short coat of wonderful texture. Excellent clear white colour. Excellent condition and temperament. There are indeed very few cats of this quality on the showbench - I think she is absolutely stunning! Few breeders are fortunate to have owned and bred such a delightful cat.

Havana Male Kitten

1 & BoB Hamilton's TRELGANDORF TOUCHWOOD 09/11/99
A very pleasing young chap of overall excellent quality. Ears of very good size and shape, correctly set. Excellent profile overall, though just a little flatter on top than I like. Excellent eye shape and set, very good colour. Excellent body length and type. Well balanced legs and tail. Coat of very good length and excellent texture. Excellent rich colour, and very even - unfortunately it is very unsound, hence the fact that I withheld the BoB.

Oriental Fawn Male Kitten

1 BoB N/A McGill's SKWIGLEE SINGINGINTHE RAIN 18/11/99
Ears of good shape and set. Profile very uneven. Muzzle showing severe pinch and lacking substance under the eyes. Bite under-shot. Eyes of fair shape and set, very pale in colour. Good body type. Coat of excellent length but a little harsh in texture. Coat colour not sound to the roots and a very dark/cold tone for a Fawn.

Oriental Spotted Tabby Male Neuter

1 PC N/A Ballantyne's SIARUNG LOSTTHEPLOT SPOT 38 14/06/99
Head of fairly good type overall. Ears good size and set. Fair profile, skull rather flat. Excellent body type. Very good coat length and texture. Pattern of poor formation, with very dark roots and excessive agouti invasion into the pattern.

Oriental Shaded Male Neuter

1 PC & BoB Wooller's GR CH & SUP GR PR CHELANCA LORD GYLLENE 43bs 26/07/97.
A well known exhibit. Ears of very good shape and set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Chin very weak. Lines of wedge spoiled by the cheeks which lack substance. Eyes of lovely shape and set, colour only just adequate. Body of excellent type. Tail short for balance. Excellent coat length and texture. Silver base rather dull and showing tarnishing to face and legs. A cat I have always liked, though on the day I thought he was beginning to show his age. I hesitated over the award of Gd Pr Cert.

Oriental Grand Premier Male

Gr PC Wooller's GR CH & SUP GR PR CHELANCA LORD GYLLENE 43bs 26/07/97.

2 McGill’s CAPTIVA MIDNIGHT MADNESS. 37. 15-05-97
Ears good size and shape, but set too low and bonnetted. Top of head very flat. Profile too angular. Chin a little shallow. Muzzle showing severe pinch. Eyes of good green, fairly good shape and set, but showing a definite squint. Body of fair type. Very good coat length and texture, Dense black colour some white hairs on neck.
