Erin Cat Club
5th September 2009

This was my first show after a break of 9 months and my first visit to Erin Cat Club. My thanks to Show Managers David Dowds and Sam Cahoon for inviting me; the show was extremely well organised with a very friendly atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my brief visit. What a pleasant change to judge HHP's too. I was very fortunate to have Chris Keenan as my steward - many thanks Chris for your interest in the exhibits and your good company.

AC Colourpointed or Mitted Ragdoll Kitten
1 & BoB Miskelly's GLENDAVAN MISS-DEFY 66t Female 21-03-09
This quality kitten was just a delight to judge! At just 5½ months of age this kitten is extremely well grown and has good size and substance. Ears of excellent size and shape, basically well set but needing just a little more forward tilt! Excellent top of head, very good profile, though at present her nose is a trifle long for perfection. Cheeks showing very good development. Very good muzzle shape. Good chin and correct bite. Eyes of correct shape and set, perfect size for balance and of a very good blue colour. Body of very good length, compact neck, well developed bone and rib cage. Excellent stance on table. Tail correct length for balance and well furnished. Coat of very good length and excellent texture, very well prepared and presented. Markings to face and legs well defined, tail rings a little feint. Excellent condition and temperament. This is a first rate youngster with every indication that she will be a top winner, so it was absolutely no surprise that she was later BiS, my congratulations to owner/breeders.

Oriental Lilac Adult
1 CC & BoB Lenihan's KYOMI KOHANA 29c Female 24-11-08
A young and very immature female, still looking more kitten than adult. Head of good shape overall. Ears of good size and shape, well set. Skull rather flat and a little uneven spoiling the overall profile. Muzzle showing a slight pinch. Bite correct and good firm chin. Eyes of good size and shape, well set, fairly good colour. Elegant neck. Long firm slim body of very good type, slender legs with dainty spoon feet. Tail of good length but needing just a little better taper. Coat of good colour, just a little long and slightly unsound. This young female needs time to develop and mature, and on balance was only just deserving of the CC today - however I felt that to withhold would possibly be penalising immaturity which of course isn't a fault! A friendly little lass shown in very good condition.

Oriental Tortoiseshell Adult
1 CC & BoB Clay's METAXA MARQUESA 37h Female 29-04-08
A well grown young female of overall very pleasing Oriental type. Head of very good shape, balancing well with body. Ears of good size and shape, correctly set with good top of head. Good oven profile overall. Fairly good lines to wedge. Fair chin depth and correct bite. Eyes of good size, excellent shape and set, but unfortunately colour is poor, far too orange, but showing some green. Excellent length body of elegant Oriental type. Legs tall and slender, neat feet. Tail of good length and taper. Coat of excellent length, really short and close lying, good texture. Excellent colour distribution and mingling, very good chocolate colour, with hot red and cool cream in evidence; the colour was sound to the roots and showed a total absence of any barring. I noted a little a patch of pale cream on the belly … a rather unfortunate location for a spot of cream, but it did appear to be cream not white! Excellent condition and temperament. I hesitated over the award of the CC … my concern being the poor eye colour - however the overall impression was good and I felt that the many qualities more than out-weighed this failing.

Oriental Cream or Apricot Kitten, Male
1 & BoB Clay's CHINKILYNX MYSUNNY BOY 37fn Male 29-03-09

Excellent profile, correct bite, firm chin. Very good muzzle with good lines to wedge. Eyes of very good size and shape, correctly set, unfortunately the colour is very poor. Firm slender body of very good type and length, well grown for age; tail of very good length and taper. Short close lying coat of excellent texture. Good clear apricot colour, sound and free from markings in the dorsal area, rather heavy markings on the flanks. Excellent condition and temperament - definitely enjoying his outing.

1 Lenihan's SHADOWSQUAD BANDIA ORGA 37f Female 04-01-09
A rather small kitten of fair type overall. Head just a little short for balance. Ear good size and shape, fairly well set. Profile very uneven, prominent bump on nose. Muzzle showing severe pinch. Bite correct, fair depth to chin. Eyes of very good size and shape, well set and stunning green colour. Body of very good fine Oriental type, firm and slender, well bodied, but small for age. Tail of excellent length and taper. Coat short and close lying, excellent texture. Superb clear cream colour (what a change to see a cream!) dorsal area excellent solid cream and sound to roots. Excellent condition and temperament - she certainly knows how to charm a judge!
