The GCCF Supreme Show
November 2005
John S Harrison
I was delighted to be invited to judge the Ragdolls
once again at the GCCF Supreme Show, and really enjoyed judging what proved to
be an exceptionally high standard entry. I was especially delighted with the
standard of some of the 'newer' colours, having bred red series and agouti cats
for 40 years now I was pleased to see the huge improvement these have made in
the Ragdoll. My thanks to exhibitors for entering such high quality cats under
me, it made for a thoroughly enjoyable day.
The Cat Fancy is indebted
to Julia May, especially so as Julia hasn't enjoyed good health this year, for
yet again producing a show of such a high standard - proving that the UK Cat
Fancy can stage a grand event. Congratulations to all concerned.
Grateful thanks to my team for their hard work and for handling our
cats with so much care. I also have to thank them for their patience and
tolerance with me!
AC or Pattern Ragdoll Grand Champion
Male
1 UK GCC Mousley's Gr Ch Sonnifacio Masterpiece 66 31
A grand example of the breed, having excellent size, good coat and the most
delightful laid back temperament. Eyes of excellent size and shape, very well
set and of a good blue colour. Ears of good size, wide set and tilted forwards.
Excellent top of head. Very good profile with perfect nose length. Cheeks of
very good definition running to a very well shaped muzzle. Excellent body type,
well boned and with substance. Excellent length body with correct short neck.
Well balanced legs and tail. Coat of very good length, though just lacking a
little furnishing, and of excellent texture. Very well marked with excellent
contrast. A mature male of excellent type with a first class temperament well
deserving of the UK Grand - certainly a pleasure to judge. Unfortunately he had
to stand aside to let a superior lady take the BoB.
AC or Pattern
Ragdoll Grand Champion Female
1 UK GCC & BoB Sprot's Gr Ch
Churston Cameo 66 31
This beautiful mature queen is a truly outstanding
example of the breed, she so closely fits the Breed Standard in all but minor
(and I really do mean very minor) respects. It is unusual to find an exhibit in
any breed where there is almost no variation from the SoP - if in GCCF we
followed 'points judging' I believe that this exhibit would score 99 points!
Head of overall excellent type. Ears of perfect size, shape and set with
excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Excellent cheek definition, with very
pleasing muzzle. Excellent chin line, correct bite. Eyes of excellent size,
shape and set, very good blue in colour. Body of excellent balance and correct
type. Very good length back, with correct short strong neck. Excellent strength
of bone to legs and well developed rib cage. Excellent paws. Tail just a little
short for perfection
. I would deduct 1 point! Coat of excellent length
and texture, and showing excellent furnishings. Excellent markings overall,
though just a little irregularity in facial markings - but now I really am
nit-picking! Excellent body colour contrasting well with the seal points.
Excellent condition, excellent temperament and excellent presentation. I
learned later in the day that this was her qualifying UK Grand and that she has
also recently achieved her Imperial title! Obviously a lady of some consistency
and quality! Congratulations to her owner/breeders.
2 Barker's Gr Ch
Rainlee Belle Fleurie 66 31
A very pleasing exhibit of overall
excellent type, though I did consider she was perhaps a little small and
lightweight for her age. Very pleasing head type overall. Excellent ear shape,
size and set. Excellent profile with nose of perfect length. Well defined
cheeks and very neat muzzle. Perfect bite, good square chin. Excellent eye
shape and set, very good colour. Well balanced body with well proportioned legs
and tail, good length to back. Body lacking a little in substance. Excellent
coat length and texture. Excellent body markings and facial markings. Excellent
body colour and contrast. Overall I was very impressed with this lady and, even
taking into account my reservation regarding substance, I would happily have
awarded her the UK Grand had the winner not been present. A delightful exhibit,
very unlucky with the competition!
3 Haworth's Gr Ch Pollywoffles
Blue Mist 66a
A pleasing exhibit of overall very good type. Ears of
good site and set. Excellent top of skull. Very good profile. Good chin line,
correct bite. Very good muzzle shape. Well defined cheeks. Eyes of good shape
and set. Body of good size and substance. Good length to body, fairly short
neck. Balanced legs with good strength of bone. Tail of excellent length for
balance. Coat of good texture, but a little short for perfection. Excellent
points colouring with excellent contrast to body. Excellent condition and
temperament. A delightful mature exhibit of great quality, lost ground as the
result of coat shortage.
Bi-Colour Ragdoll Champion Male
1 GCCn/a Jones' Ch Silkiestar Raphael 66 31
A very pleasing
exhibit of overall good type, but at 19 months of age his head is just a little
unbalanced. Head overall rather long for balance. Ears very good size and set.
Top of head could be a little flatter. Fair cheek development for age, but nose
rather long. Good muzzle, chin line and bite. Eyes very good shape. Excellent
body type, large, well grown and with substance. Excellent bone. Excellent legs
and paws. Coat of very good length and texture. Lacking a little furnishing.
Well marked overall. Very good points colour and contrast. Unfortunately I felt
that his lack of maturity resulting in head weakness precluded the award of
Grand
. though I would have happily awarded a CC. I was very impressed
with this lad at the BRCC show, then he was 10 months old and showed great
promise. He still shows great promise and I hope I will have the opportunity of
judging him when he is fully mature. A lovely natured chap shown in very good
condition and well presented.
Bi-Colour Ragdoll Pre-Champion
Female
1 CC Sprot's Ragalyn Marble 66 31
A most
impressive young female of great quality and very few faults. I am amazed at
the degree of maturity in a youngster of only 16 months! Head of overall
excellence. Ears excellent shape, size and set. Very good top of head.
Excellent profile with nose of correct length. Excellent cheeks, very good
muzzle shape, good chin line & bite. Excellent eye shape and colour.
Excellent body type showing excellent bone and substance for age. Excellent
body length with correct short neck. Well balanced legs. Tail needing a little
length for perfection. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent points
colour, body contrast and markings. Beautifully natured lass, she thoroughly
enjoyed the attention. An extremely promising youngster of great quality, shown
in excellent condition. I was delighted to learn that this was her third CC,
congratulations to her owners/breeders.
2 Pidd's Ragalyn Sky 66
31a
Of all the cats I judged this delightful lady is definitely the one I'd
have liked to bring home! She really is a little beauty
. and oh so very
pretty
. but unfortunately she lacked a little maturity and hadn't quite
got the 'presence' of the winner. An exhibit of overall excellence. Head of
very pleasing type, just lacking a little in maturity. Ears of very good shape
and set. Excellent top of head. Very good profile, though nose just a fraction
long. Cheeks developing well, though muzzle just a little too pointed at
present. Excellent body type. Excellent long body with short strong neck
holding head well. Fairly well boned and with good substance for age. Very good
legs and paws. Well balanced tail. Excellent coat length and texture, very well
marked overall, very good true blue points colour. Shown in excellent
condition. Delightful temperament. A most impressive youngster, lacking in
maturity and just needing time to develop. I have no doubt that she will take
some beating in a year or so, and she was so unlucky to meet the winner
would I have awarded her the CC in different company
of
course I would!
3 Parkes' Kyetsi Kobaltkween 66 31at
A
pleasing youngster of overall very good type, and gives optimism that the
'newer' colours are developing to a high standard. This girl was a little
immature and needs time to develop. Head of very good overall type. Ears of
very good size and shape though I felt they were set just a little high. Fairly
good top of head. Fairly good profile, though nose is a little long. Fair
cheeks but need to develop more fully. Fair muzzle. A large and substantial
young female of excellent body type and length, good neck.Excellent leg and
tail proportions. Excellent coat length and texture, very good colouring with
good contrast. Fairly good tabby markings to points, fair white markings. A
promising youngster but she needs to mature to compete with the big girls!
4 Fitzpatrick's Emerisle Fairytail 66 31
Unfortunately this
older lady was very nervous and obviously wasn't enjoying her day out -
accordingly she didn't show to advantage. Head overall a little narrow. Ears of
good size and set. Fair profile. Cheeks needing better definition and muzzle a
little square. Eyes of good size and bright blue colour, but unfortunately they
were oh so full. Very good body type, excellent length back. Balanced legs and
tail. Fair strength of bone. Needs to carry a little more weight. Coat of fair
texture but lacking in length.
Colourpointed or Mitted Ragdoll
Champion Male
1 GCCn/a Cornwell's Ch Corcats Goodytwoshoes
66aw
A very pleasing young male of overall very good type, but
unfortunately he wasn't a happy boy and did himself no favours. Ears of good
shape and set but held far too low. Cheeks showing fair development, but need
better definition at this level of competition. Fair profile though he needs to
grow into his nose. Muzzle rather pointed. Eyes very full. Excellent body
length and type. Excellent bone and substance. Strong legs and paws. Well
balanced tail. However he is very young and needs time to develop his full
potential. Excellent coat length and texture, very well marked. Excellent
points colour and contrast. A very promising youngster, but on the day I felt
that he needed more maturity and his lack of confidence didn't help. I would
have happily given him a CC.
Colourpointed or Mitted Ragdoll
Champion Female
1 GCC Barker's Ch Dreamcats Lili Marlene 66
This lady was a quite delightful exhibit of overall excellent size and
correct type. Head of overall excellent type. Ears very good size and shape,
correctly set. Very good top of head. Very good profile, nose of correct
length. Well defined cheeks, excellent muzzle. Good chin line, correct bite.
Excellent clear blue eyes of good size and shape. Excellent body type. A
strongly built lass with excellent substance and bone. Perfectly proportioned
tail and legs. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent points colour with
superb contrast to body. A really pleasing mature queen of excellent type shown
in superb condition - she has a superb temperament and really enjoyed the
attention! Well deserving of the Grand.

Highwaystar 66
A very pleasing exhibit overall very good type. Ears of
fair size and set. Very good top of head. Pleasing profile with nose of very
good length. Fairly good cheek and muzzle definition. Good chin, bite very
untidy. Very good eye shape and colour. A very well bodied lass of very good

CC Stacey & Delloyde's Snowsprite Justwilliam 66
What a really
pleasing young lad! A quality youngster of excellent type overall. Head
developing very well for age and my criticisms are the result of immaturity
rather than 'fault', he is an extremely promising youngster. Ears of very good
size and set. Good profile, though nose a tadge long for balance. Cheeks
showing good shape but need better definition. Muzzle is a little pointed and
needs to fill out a little. Excellent body type. Excellent length back, correct
neck. Excellent bone and substance. Well balanced legs and tail, excellent
paws. Excellent coat length and texture. Very good points colour with good
contrast. Excellent condition and temperament. Overall I was very impressed
with this lad, despite my quibbles I felt his slight head weakness was the
result of immaturity and not fault and I happily gave him the CC - hope to see
him when he's mature.
2 Miskelly's Shalapaws Harry Houdini 66
A pleasing youngster of excellent body type and substance, and again I felt
that any head weakness was a consequence of immaturity and not 'fault'. Ears of
good size and shape, fairly well set. Very good top of head. Profile lacking
sufficient definition and nose a trifle long for balance. Muzzle a little
pointed and cheeks needing better definition. Excellent body type with good
length back and lovely short neck. Excellent bone and substance. Balanced legs
and tail. Coat of very good length and texture, I felt his points were rather
dark being nearer black than seal. Overall a delightful young chap with a
superb temperament, shown in excellent condition. Hopefully any head weakness
will disappear as he matures.

1 CC & BoB Parke's Kyetsi Knickaboka
Glori 66f
A very attractive young lady of overall very pleasing type
showing. Ears of good size, very good shape, and correctly set. Excellent flat
skull. Excellent profile, showing nose of correct length. Very good definition
to cheeks, muzzle developing well. Good chin line. Correct bite. Vivid blue
eyes of good shape and size. Excellent substance to body. Very good length back
and short neck. Legs well boned and in correct proportion, balanced tail.
Excellent coat length and texture. Very good cream points colour with fairly
good contrast - always a bit of a problem in dilute red series! Excellent
condition. I was impressed with this delightful natured lass and believe that
when she has matured she will be a really excellent Ragdoll, let alone a newer
colour! Well deserving of the BoB. Congratulations.
2 Cann's Jomanei
Spiritinthesky 66a
A very attractive and promising youngster of overall
excellence, she was extremely unlucky to meet the winner. This superb natured
lass has no real faults and just needs a little more maturity. Ears of very
good size and setting. Very good top of head. Very good profile, though nose is
a little long at present. Cheeks coming on well, but need better definition.

Excellent body type. Excellent length back, balanced legs and tail. Very good
strength of bone and general substance. Excellent coat length and texture. Very
good blue - not grey - points colour and excellent contrast to body. A really
pleasing exhibit of overall excellence, sorry I couldn't award her a CC as
well!
3 Westwood's Farisle Dreem Girl 66a
Another very
attractive youngster of overall pleasing type, though she needs to fill out a
little. Ears of correct size and excellent setting. Top of head just a little

Well what a little charmer! A very attractive
kitten of overall excellence. Excellent head type. Ears very good shape and
size, correctly set. Excellent top of head. Good profile. Cheeks developing
well, very neat muzzle. Blue eyes of very good size and shape. Excellent body
type with superb size and substance. Good length back, legs well boned and in

discussion with the Duty Vet disregarded it as it does not appear to be a
defect. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent tortie colouring with
superb contrast to body. Certainly a delightful baby.
