GWYNEDD CAT CLUB SHOW

16th July 2005

My thanks once again to Dorothy Tomlinson and the Committee for inviting me to judge at my local show.

Oriental Champion Male
Grand CC : Parkinson's GR CH JOYJEWEL SMAUG AKIVA 45b
A strong masculine exhibit of overall excellent Oriental type shown in good firm condition. Large ears of excellent shape and set. Excellent top of head. Good profile, firm chin and even bite. Excellent lines to wedge. Eyes of clear green colour, very good shape and set, though just a little large. Excellent body type with very good length, carried on long slender legs. Tail needing just a little more length and taper for perfection. Excellent close lying coat of correct length and texture. Well marked face, legs and tail. Excellent coloured chocolate ticking on deep warm ground.

Oriental Champion Female
Grand CC : Parkinson's CH SMAUG ROXY 43ps
What a superior lady! Head of excellent shape carried on elegant neck. Ears large and well set. Light green eyes of excellent shape and set, correct size. Excellent long slender body, elegant legs and paws. Excellent whipped tail. Coat of fair length, just a little harsh on dorsal area. Excellent colour mix on clear silver ground. Excellent even shading with freedom from pattern. A really fine example of the variety, I was delighted to award her a Grand. Congratulations to Owner/breeder.

Oriental Premier Male
Grand PC Lund's MERRYTAIL JUDAH 38a
He was an outstanding kitten and has certainly fulfilled that early promise … he is really a delightful chap with the most superb nature. Head of excellent Oriental type. Large ears of excellent shape and set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Excellent firm chin with perfect bite. Excellent eye shape and set, clear green in colour with that superior expression seen in only the best of Orientals! Excellent lines to wedge with strength to muzzle. Excellent long neck. Excellent body length and elegance. Long slender legs. Long whipped tail, with a slight thickening at the tip. Excellent short coat of perfect texture. Pattern well spotted on the sides but rather solid in the dorsal area - though the pattern was visible. Spots fairly clear of agouti invasion and extending well down to the roots. This chap really is a quite exceptional colour showing excellent mid blue colour markings on the most perfect warm oatmeal / beige ground -- how seldom we see such superb colouring in Orientals today.. Excellent condition. He is a delight to handle and it was a great pleasure to judge him again.

Reserve : Fowler's GR CH & GR PR PIENA SYDNEYNOTASPOT
Another outstanding Oriental, I was very sorry that I could not award him a Grand as well! I have had the pleasure of judging this chap in the past and there is little I can add to my previous comments - he is a cat of overall excellence and conforms so well to the SoP. Today he was just a bit on the portly side and this made his head appear a little small for balance - sorry but I do think a diet is called for! Large well placed ears of excellent shape and set. Excellent top of head and profile. Excellent lines to wedge. Excellent eye shape and set, clearest green colour. Good body type and length. Coat of very good length and texture, excellent caramel colour showing heavy shading .A delightful cat in every way and though deserving a Grand as well today he had to settle for the Reserve.

Cogan's PR FIORDILISIO CHURCHILL 37d
A superb Chap - really unlucky to come up against this competition, certainly well deserving of the BoB and a such a pity I didn't have another certificate. Excellent head type. Large ears of excellent shape and set with superb top of head. Light green eyes of excellent shape and set. Excellent lines to wedge, excellent chin line, bite a little uneven. Excellent body length. Long whip tail. Excellent close lying coat of correct length. Very good rich colour, fairly heavy markings showing on sides but dorsal area was solid red. A delightful cat of quality.

Oriental Blue Female Adult
Considered for BoB : Helm's GR CH NITERAP BLUE ORCHID
I found this queen to be of overall fair type only, lacking style and elegance. She was very light weight and lacking show condition. I did not consider the award for BoB was justified.

Oriental Longhair Kitten
1 & BoB Browning's
A large well grown kitten of excellent type. Large ears of excellent shape, held just a fraction low. Excellent domed top of head. Excellent eye shape and set. Excellent profile. Excellent strength of muzzle. Excellent body type, perhaps just a fraction heavy at present. Coat a little sparse, but of good quality. A most promising kitten indeed.

Oriental Blue Male Neuter
1 PC & BoB Nall's PR MERRYTAIL GENTLEMAN TED
A large male of overall excellent type and elegance. Excellent strong head. Ears large and of correct shape and set. Excellent top of head, Excellent profile. Green eyes of excellent shape and set.. Very good lines to wedge, just the hint of a pinch. Long muscular body of excellent type - nothing flabby about this chap, Excellent slender legs and long whip tail. Coat of excellent length and texture. Coat of very good even colour. Excellent temperament and condition. Yes, certainly another superb Oriental!

Oriental Smoke Female Neuter
1 PC & BoB Bowen's SMAUG AHYOKA 42h
Head of very good type overall. Ears large and well set. Fairly good profile. Muzzle rather pinched. Good chin, bite rather untidy. Excellent green eyes of correct shape and set. Good length body. Elegant limbs. Tail fair length and taper. Excellent coat length and texture. Very good chocolate colouring, clear silver base - I would have preferred to see more chocolate and less silver resulting in a more solid initial appearance. Shown in excellent condition. Well deserving of PC.
