John S Harrison

A confusion over the names John Hansson & John Harrison caused a bit of a ruction which Beryl & Judy sorted out in their wonderful light hearted manner - nothing daunts these two! My re-made judging book must have left exhibitors a bit confused! To my steward Mark Parkinson I offer grateful thanks not only for his assistance and interest in the cats, but also for his very good company and superb sense of humour - Many thanks Mark.

ORIENTAL RED ADULT,Male

1 CC N/A. Bullings BAROUSHKA BRAVEHEART. 14/2/97. Overall this chap was a little temperamental, with a very 'fluffed up' coat, and lacked the weight and muscle tone I expect to find in an adult male. Ears of good size shape and set. Profile rather too angular with a dip. Eyes deep set and rather narrow, fairly good colour. Bite appeared to be correct. Muzzle rather narrow and pinched. Chin line good, but his chin was greasy & black and needed a good clean. I felt that some of the head faults would be improved if he carried more weight. Body of good length with balanced tail but this had bare patches from stud tail. Coat colour was fairly good, but showed (to me) an unacceptable degree of markings.

ORIENTAL RED ADULT,Female

1 CC & BoB Bullings KHARDAGIA AZTEC PRINCESS. 08/02/98. A most pleasing little queen. Head of overall very good shape and balance. Ears of very good shape and set, though they could be a little larger for perfection. Excellent eye shape and set, good green colour. Very good profile, lovely top of head and excellent chin line & bite. Very good body length and type, tail just a little short for balance. Coat of very good length and texture. Colour rich and even, degree of markings just acceptable. A lovely natured queen in very good condition.

ORIENTAL TORTIE ADULT

BoB Ward's RIMANA TERRAZZO. 09/01/97 Overall an attractive female of excellent type. With age her head is getting rather narrow and the muzzle square. Non the less a pleasing queen well worthy of BoB.

ORIENTAL BLACK NEUTER

1 PC N/A. Whincup's ADWELSH BENJAMIN SISKO. 16/05/97. Ears of fair size and shape, carried a little upright. Skull flat with a very angular profile. Muzzle square. Eyes of fair size and set, but very full, colour a greyish grape green. Excellent body type. Tail of good length but needs a little more taper. Coat of very good length and texture. Excellent dense colour and sound to roots.

ORIENTAL TICKED TABBY NEUTER

1 CC & BoB. Brown's CH & PR CLOUDBORN SHASTRI. 45b 20/08/97 I do not recollect handling this most pleasing exhibit before. A strong cat of overall excellence. Ears of very good size shape and set. Very good eye shape and colour. Very good profile overall. Muzzle tends to be a little square. Excellent body type, with a really elegant neck. Coat of excellent length and texture. Excellent definition of ticking. Dorsal area just a little more solid than required for perfection. Excellent chocolate markings on correct ground colour. Well marked face and legs, tail rings just a little 'hazy'. Overall a most pleasing exhibit and a superb example of the variety. Nice one!!

ORIENTAL SHADED NEUTER

1 CC & BoB. Wooller's GD CH & PR CHELANCA LORD GYLLENE. 43bs 26/07/97. Head of overall very good type. Excellent ear size shape and set, with superb top of head. Profile very good overall . Eyes of superb shape and set, good colour for a silver. Poor chin line. Excellent elegant body type of good length with balanced tail. Close lying coat of excellent length & texture. Excellent chocolate colour of shading on an excellent silver ground. In view of his good chocolate colour I thought at one time this chap would develop heavy tarnishing with age, but this has not proved to be the case. Excellent degree of shading, of ticked base. Today having the pleasure of judging this boy and the Ticked boy it showed quite clearly the differences between the Ticked Tabby & a Shaded of ticked base pattern. Two super cats and distinctly different.
