HUMBERSIDE CAT CLUB SHOW

My thanks to Beryl, Judy and Amanda for inviting me to judge at this show …. Have to say the venue did make me think I was at another show!! I thoroughly enjoyed the show and had some really nice cats to judge. My grateful thanks to Matthew Adair for stewarding for me … it was his first outing as a steward but I have to say he coped admirably with the Orientals even though he's more used to British - I am sure that he will become a sought after steward in the near future. Hope you will steward for me again Matthew.

Oriental Imperial Female
Imp Cert Wildon's GR CH SUNJADE STARDUST 45k 16/12/05
A very impressive mature lady of overall quality with excellent Oriental type. Head well balanced with correct type and proportions. Ears very good size, shape and set with good top of head. Very good Oriental profile overall just marred by the slightest of bump's on the nose - though in truth this is being a little 'nit' picking. Very good lines to wedge, excellent strength of muzzle. Good chinline, correct bite and very pleasing depth of lower jaw. Body of excellent length, with long balanced limbs and well tapered tail. Coat short and close lying, excellent texture and very good colouring. I would have liked slightly more banding to the hairs, but that's really looking for perfection. A delightful natured lady shown in excellent condition. I was delighted to award the Imperial Certificate to this lovely cat - she certainly well deserved this high award. I later learned that she had won 5 Imperials in 5 shows … why doesn't that surprise me! Congratulations to Breeder/Owner.

2 Hirst's GR CH TOGHAR MOJHITA 29 08/09/04
This lady was a little disgruntled and did not have her usual sparkle. A cat of overall very good Oriental type. Head well balanced. Ears of very good size and shape, correctly set but she insisted on holding them low. Skull is flattening with age spoiling an otherwise pleasing profile. Eyes good shape and set but unfortunately the haws were raised covering about a third of the eye. Muzzle rather pinched. Body of very good length and overall type. Coat of good length and texture but very open and not lying sleek. Excellent colour. This lady was not happy and I did not feel she warranted the Res Imp on the day.

Oriental Bicolour Assessment
Merit : Bennett's ADAJAN SAYNT GEORGE 48/38d M 23-04-07
A large well grown male of overall excellent Oriental type. Well balanced head of correct Oriental type. Ears of excellent size and shape, correctly set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile, good bite, firm chin. Excellent lines to wedge. Eyes of excellent size, shape and set, fairly good green in colour. Long slender body of excellent type, long slender legs, but feet rather heavy for balance. Tail of fair length and taper. Coat just a little long for perfection, very close lying, and of excellent texture. Excellent rich red colouration though pattern a little indistinct. More than enough white, very clean and sparkling, with fairly clear edges. Excellent condition and temperament. A superb cat of overall excellence …. He's certainly grown since last I saw him. Like a lot of little boys his Mum needs to check he washes himself properly!

Merit : Read's ADAJAN VOODOO DOLL 48e F 23-04-07 A very attractive young female, litter sister of the above and of very similar type. Head very well balanced and of excellent overall type. Ears large, very well set, good shape. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Correct bite, good chinline. Excellent lines to wedge. Eyes of excellent shape and set, good size, fairly good green in colour. Long very elegant body of correct Oriental type - needs to carry just a little more weight. Excellent long slim legs, fine dainty feet. Tail needs a little more length and taper. Coat of excellent texture, a little long but close lying. A good amount of clear bright white. Patches of black, bright red and soft cream all sound to the roots. Fairly good demarcation with white, some scattered white hairs in coloured areas - but overall a very pleasing coat. A very attractive lass of overall excellent quality, very well deserving of the merit. We did have a good chat and I nearly did a runner with her! A delightful cat.

No Merit : Gould's JADEVYN HONANI 48 MN 22-11-06 A very attractive cat. Well balanced head of correct type. Ears of very good size and shape, correctly set and held well. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Good chin line, strength to lower jaw, correct bite. Excellent lines to wedge. Eyes of correct size for balance, excellent shape and set, very good green in colour. Long slender body of excellent Oriental type. Long slim legs, neat paws. Tail of good length, well tapered. Excellent short close lying coat of very fine texture - a real joy to stroke. Excellent dense black colouring which was sound to the roots. Good demarcation to white. Unfortunately this lad does not have sufficient white to satisfy the SoP minimum requirement and accordingly I was unable to award the merit - though in all other respects he well deserved the merit. I cannot help but think that the Breed Standard is at fault, it gives Judges no leeway and unless they simply choose to ignore the SoP all awards should be withheld. A delightful cat of excellent type, excellent condition and temperament.

Oriental Lilac Neuter

A large well grown lad of overall good Oriental type. Well balanced head. Ears of very good size and shape held just a fraction high. Good lines to wedge. Good profile. Excellent body type. Coat of excellent length and texture, colour not quite sound to the roots and very cold and dark for a lilac. Excellent condition and temperament.

Head of overall excellence. Ears large and extremely well set with very good width between. Skull just a little flatter than I like, but otherwise a pleasing profile. Very good chin line and strong lower jaw. Correct bite. Eyes of very good size, shape and set, colour just a little pale for perfection. Excellent body type, excellent long slender legs with very neat paws, tail well tapered and of good length. Short close lying coat of excellent texture, dense glossy black to the roots. A really pleasing cat of overall excellence, a lovely natured lad and shown in superb condition. Well deserving of the PC.
