John S Harrison

My thanks to Show Managers Anne & Dominic and their team for inviting me to judge once again in Torbay. Easter weekend is not the best time for travelling into Devon so I drove down in the early hours and walked along the beach at 8am and was back home on the North Wales coast for a late supper missing all the traffic!

Norwegian Forest Adult Male
1 CC & BoB Rowberry's ROWGARNOR MOONSHADOW
Head of overall very good shape and balance. Ears of good size and shape, set just a little wide, but held well. Very good profile. Excellent chin, correct bite. Eyes very good size and shape. Excellent body length and type held on tall legs. Excellent tail. Excellent stance. Though only a youngster this lad of less than 10 months is strongly built with excellent bone, just needing to put on a bit of muscle. Excellent coat length and texture, really dense undercoat. Excellent condition and temperament. A delightful young chap, certainly my type of cat and a real pleasure to handle…. Certainly a lad with a promising future … I hope I see him again.

Norwegian Forest Adult Female
1 CC Rowberry's ROWGARNOR OVERTHEMOON
Sister of the above and yet another cat of excellence and equally as promising as her brother! Ears of excellent size and shape, again set just a fraction wide but held well. Excellent profile. Excellent chinline. Excellent muzzle. Excellent eye shape and set. Excellent long rangy body of perfect type. Excellent carriage. Excellent bone. Excellent tail. Excellent coat length and texture. A stunning young lady needing only to body up a little …. but hey we're only a baby! A quite outstanding exhibit … she and her brother must be a joy to own. Why did the boy get the BoB over the female? Nothing to choose between them really … he just purred louder!!! Congratulations to owner/breeder not only for producing such wonderful type and coat quality, but also for the joyous temperament and wonderful condition!

2 Beavil's NORMAGIKATT BAYLE
A cat of overall good type, but today totally overshadowed by the competition. Ears of very good size but set a little wide. Profile showing slight dip to nose. Bite slightly uneven. Excellent muzzle. Long body of very good type and substance with excellent strength of bone. Excellent coat length and texture, very good undercoat. Excellent condition and presentation.

AC Colourpointed / Mitted Ragdoll Male Kitten
1 Matthews GROOVICATS PLAYWITHFIRE
Ears of fair size, but rather too pointed in shape, fairly well set but need better forward tilt. Skull a little rounded. Fairly good profile, though needs better stop and needs to grow into nose which at the minute is very long. Cheeks lacking sufficient development for age. Eyes of fair shapebut rather pale in colour. Body of overall good type. Coat dense but very short.

AC Colourpointed / Mitted Ragdoll Female Kitten
1 & BoB Avery's RAGGICATZ DANCING QUEEN
Ears of very good size and shape, very well set with correct tilt. Skull very flat and even for age. Good profile overall needing just a little better definition at stop. Nose a little long. Excellent chin, correct bite. Cheeks developing well. Eyes very good shape and size, colour promising. Very good body type, excellent condition and bone. Excellent coat length and texture. Points colour very dark and showing very heavy tabby ghosting. Delightful nature. Well worthy of BoB.

2 Prowting's EISERBLEW HOLLY GOLIGHTLY
A rather small and slightly built girl. Ears of good size and shape. Fairly good profile. Head needs far more definition in muzzle. Eyes of fair size but very pale in colour. Body of acceptable if rather slight type needing both size and substance. Tail rather short. Coat of good length and texture.

3 Hart's SHAMANTA TWILIGHT MIST
A very small and finely built kitten for 7½ months of age, with overall very good type. Ears rather small for balance, fairly good shape and set. Good flat skull. Good profile overall, needing just a little more definition at stop. Excellent muzzle and good cheek definition. Excellent blue eyes of very pleasing size and shape. Body of good proportions, but very small and fine boned. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent temperament and condition.

Oriental Black Adult 1 CC n/a Wills CH KASSALIC INKIEANNA
Ears of good size, shape and set. Skull a little too flat. Fair profile. Muzzle showing pinch and spoiling lines to wedge. Chin shallow. Eyes of good shape but very pale. Body of overall good type. Tail short, lacking sufficient taper and showing terminal pip. Coat of good length but rather open and spineline ridged; colour almost sound. Not quite up to CC standard.

Oriental Tortoiseshell Adult
1 CC & BoB Boddy's SEETEEZ WHISPERED PROMISE
At 10 months of age this stunning youngster really was an utter joy to handle. Certainly a quality girl. Ears of excellent shape, size and set. Excellent profile overall though for perfection I'd prefer the skull to be not quite so flat. Excellent chinline, correct bite. Excellent long elegant neck. Excellent long firm body of pure Oriental type. Excellent long legs, very dainty feet. Excellent tail length and taper. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent rich red, soft cream and dense black colouring and all sound to the roots. Because she has a lot of red/cream she does show considerable barring on legs and thighs in these colours …. but totally acceptable in light of her other qualities. A delight to judge, well worthy of CC and one of the nicest Orientals I've judged foe some time.

2 Lee's WILLHAVETODO OUIJA BOARD
An extremely nervous youngster - she was so tense and panic-stricken that it was very difficult to assess her. Ears of very good size and shape but held very low. Skull rather flat, profile too angular. Eyes of good set but very full. Body too tense to assess but appeared to be of good length and type. Coat of good length, colour not sound to roots.

3 Dawe's EDINGORSE SUMMER SOLSTICE
Ears of good size and set. Profile of fairy good shape overall but showing many dips and bumps. Eyes very large, correctly set but poor shape. Severe muzzle pinch, cheeks hollow and poor lines to edge. Body of good type. Tail short and lacking taper. Coat of good length and texture, rich colours, but not sound to roots.

Oriental Smoke Kitten
1 BoB n/a Lyon's GENTANTIQUE AVALON
I called the Vet to this kitten because he was very immature and had a bloody nose. Though he was 3½ months old he looked very small and very immature and had a coat of kitten fluff. Ears of good size, set rather high and held upright. Muzzle rather pinched. Eyes of good shape and set and very good colour. Very good length body. Coat very open and fluffy with skin showing through. Fair colour showing very heavy tabby ghosting and just the merest hint of being a smoke. Very difficult to assess such an immature kitten …. though he was certainly a happy and frisky little chap and seemed to be enjoying himself.

Oriental Red Neuter
BoB : Drimmie's GR PR ADMEWSH NUTROSTARKILMOUSI
A cat of excellent size and conformation to SoP. A magnificent rich red coat of excellent length and texture. Well deserving the BoB.

Oriental Tortoiseshell Neuter
1 PC n/a Button's CH & PR BETHANE BONNIE
Ears rather small for balance, a little upright in setting. Top of head very flat, angular profile. Eyes of fair shape and set, a very dull grey opal in colour. Muzzle showing severe pinch. Rather cobby in body. Tail short, lacking taper and with a distinct thickening part way down. Coat rather long and open. Blue areas very dark in colour. Not up to required standard for PC.

Finally I would like to mention two quite outstanding young Oriental Longhairs owned and bred by Mrs Gingell, these being QUINTRAL JUSTFORYOU, Red Silver Shaded LH, and QUINTRAL WILLOWISP, Black Tortie Silver Shaded LH. These two young cats are of absolutely excellent Oriental type which is very difficult to fault, have absolutely stunning coat length and texture, and have absolutely wonderful colour and clarity of silver. To say I'm impressed is an understatement, they are I think the finest Oriental Longhairs I have handled. Quintral was famous for some stunning Lilac Point Siamese in the past ….. the future with OLH of this quality must surely be rosy! My thanks to owner breeder for showing these cats under me, and my heartiest congratulations on achieving such excellence in this breed.
