LANCASHIRE CAT CLUB

March 10th 2000

John S Harrison

My thanks to Chris and Committee for inviting me to judge once again at this ever popular show. The new venue certainly appeared to be successful. I was delighted to have Freda Mathias-Lord as my Steward. I thoroughly enjoyed my day Freda, and I hope you found it of interest.

Ragdoll

Bicolour Adult Female

1 Southern’s ELLANDBEE GIFTOF JOY 66 31 14-04-99
A very small cat of overall excellent type. Unfortunately she really does lack sufficient size, and it was for this reason alone that I withheld the IC. Very good head type. Correct profile. Good muzzle shape. Well developed cheeks. Eyes of very good size, shape and set, pleasing blue colour. Coat of very good length and texture. Well marked. Body legs and tail well proportioned, but unfortunately lacking size. I did hesitate over the IC, and took into consideration the fact that she is only 11 months old, but even allowing for this I decided that she lacked the size I would expect. Such a pity because it’s her only failing.

Colourpointed / Mitted Adult Male

1 Fitzpatrick’s EMERISLE BEAUJOLAIS 66 18-05-99
A large well grown cat of overall excellent body type but still a big kitten! Ears of good size, shape and set. Profile good overall, but the nose is a little long for balance. Eyes of good shape and set, but appeared to be a little small. Cheeks need better definition and lines to wedge too straight spoiling the overall impression. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and texture. I gave some thought to the award of IC but his present head weakness, which is probably little more than lack of maturity, tipped the balance.

Bicolour Neuter Male

1 & IC Chappell’s POLLYWOFFLES MR MURRAY 66 31 16-04-99
A massive chap of only 14 months looking every inch a Ragdoll. Ears of excellent shape and set. Brilliant blue eyes of correct shape and set. Excellent profile and skull. Very good muzzle, cheeks needing just a little more development for perfection. Excellent body type. Strongly developed bone & muscle. Excellent coat length and texture. Well marked. A superb exhibit by any standards!

2 Haworth’s POLLYWOFFLES TYSON 66 31a 16-04-99
Litter brother of the above and very similar in all respects. If anything this chap has a better muzzle & cheeks than his brother. Unfortunately I had to call the Duty Vet to this exhibit and she confirmed that he has a deformity of the skull. I have to say that but for this he is a superb exhibit and would definitely have beaten his brother.

3 Ashworth’s EMERISLE SPINDRIFT 66 31a 23-01-99
Rather small in comparison with the above. Ears of good shape and fair set but a little small for balance. Fair profile but nose rather long. Fair muzzle though cheeks require more development. Good body type. Excellent coat length and texture. Fair markings. Excellent temperament and preparation.

Colourpointed / Mitted Neuter Male

1 Ashworth’s EMERISLE AMBROSE 66w 23-01-99
A very small light boned exhibit lacking the size I look for in this breed. Head overall rather fine in build. Ears fairly well set. Fair profile though nose rather long. Fair muzzle but cheeks need better definition. Body type rather fine. Coat of very good length and texture. Fairly well marked. I did not feel that this chap was up to IC standard.

Colourpointed / Mitted Neuter Female.

1 Lynch’s CHESAWOOD DAISY MAY 66w 17-05-98
An attractive female of overall good type, but a little small. Head of good type. Ears good size, shape and set. Good profile. Fairly good muzzle. Cheeks need to show a little more development. Very good eye shape and set. Well balanced body lacking a little in size. Very good length coat of pleasing texture. Unfortunately her markings leave something to be desired! She almost left her mits at home! Her markings preclude the award of IC.

2 Ashworth’s CHESAWOOD LUCKY LUCY 66 17/05/98
Litter sister of the above. A rather small female overall. Head of fairly good type. Ears good shape and set. Good profile. Muzzle and cheeks lacking sufficient definition. Eyes of very good shape and set. Good body type but needs to be much larger. Coat of good length and texture but very dark. Good even points colour.

Asian

Tabby Kitten

1 & BoB Williams’ NEMOREZ VIRTUAL REALITY 72 45b 11-11-99
A young kitten of pleasing type overall. Ears set correctly but carried a fraction high. Good profile. Neat muzzle. Good eye shape and set. Very good body type. Coat a little long. Very good coat colour showing quite good ticking.

Not as Registered : Coughtrey’s NEMOREZ LICENCE TOTHRILL 11-11-99
This kitten is registered as 72 45bq, it is infact 72 43bq. A most attractive kitten indeed. Very good type. Very good profile. Excellent top of head. Coat a little long. Good colouring. Of ticked base this kit has a clearly shaded coat.

Oriental

Grand Champion Male

GCC Auden & Gandolfo’s CH FILANJO TOPAZ 37f 03/05/96
A most attractive male of such very correct type with no exaggeration, nothing more than just good honest Oriental type! Head of overall excellence. From the front this charming gent’s head is stunning, and is sheer perfection. Ears of excellent size, shape and set with superb width between. Excellent straight lines to wedge. Eyes of perfect shape and set, just the right size and a lovely green complementing the cream coat. Profile shows a slight dip to the nose, and the skull is a little flatter than I’d like. Very good length body with well balanced legs and tail. Coat of good texture but a little long. Good even colour showing minimal ghost markings. A really attractive exhibit with a superb temperament. I was pleased to learn after judging that this well deserved GCC made him up to the First Grand Champion of the variety – congratulations to breeders/owners.

2 Blairs’ CH ZOLYN MOVEOVERDARLIN 35 04/06/98
Ears of fair shape and set. Profile too angular with a flat skull. Muzzle very square with very hollow cheeks. Body of fair length and type. Tail fairly well tapered. Coat of good length, rather harsh and a little open. Overall I found this exhibit to be rather small and effeminate, and did not consider the award of the Res GCC justified.

Grand Champion Female

GCC Parkinson’s CH CHELANCA SERRA ANGEL 43ps 06/10/98
Head of overall good type. Ears of correct size, shape and set with good top of head. Good even profile. Very good lines to wedge. Eyes of very good size and set, and of good green for a silver. Body of good length and type but carrying far too much weight. Coat of very good length and texture. A good mixture of caramel and apricot colouring. Even but rather heavy shading showing minimal markings. I would prefer a clearer silver ground. Rather a grumpy exhibit who certainly did not show herself to best advantage and nearly lost herself the GCC.

2 Nagle’s CH ZARALASKA BLAZING GLORY 37e 27-06-97
Ears of good size and set. Skull very flat with angular profile. Excellent square chin with correct bite. Muzzle showing severe pinch. Eyes good set. Body of fair type. Tail rather short for balance. Coat of excellent length and texture. Very good rich even colouring and sound to the roots.

Blair’s CH ZOLYN AWHITERSHADEOFPALE 35 30-05-97
Narrow head overall. Ears fair size, good shape and set. Muzzle extremely square. Flat skull. Profile uneven. Body of good length and elegant type, rather small. Well balanced tail. Coat of rather harsh texture, rather yellow and lacking preparation.

Ticked Tabby Neuter Male

Not as Registered : Rhead’s GD PR JADEVYN TATE 45n 08/08/95
Unfortunately I was unable to make any award to this exhibit, as he is Breed 43n and not 45n. Accordingly I marked him ‘Not as Registered’. Very good type overall. Good strong head. Large ears of very good shape and set. Good profile. Eyes good shape and set, fairly good colour, showing raised haws. Body of good type, tail short for balance. Coat of good texture but very long. Ticking very indistinct and showing a very light base. Only some hairs show ticking, which is wide and blurred lacking the crispness and clarity I expect in a Ticked Tabby. I am in no doubt that this exhibit is now incorrectly registered.
