LANCASHIRE CAT CLUB

13th March 2004

My thanks once again to Chris Titterington and the Committee for inviting me to judge at this very popular show. I took over some of my Mother's Open classes, I hope exhibitors were not too disappointed.

Norwegian Forest Cat Male Adult
1 CC Dobson's MAYSULA FTANNU 67 31t 08-05-2003
At 10 months of age this large and imposing youngster shows a surprising degree of maturity. Head of overall very good type, albeit just a little wide for balance. Ears of very good size, set just a little wide on the head. Eyes of good size and shape. Excellent profile, chin line and bite. Excellent length to body, tall legs and very good tail length. Excellent strength of bone, well muscled. Coat of excellent length and texture giving the impression of a rugged outdoor cat - most attractive indeed. Excellent condition & presentation. I was just a little concerned by his width of head and his tendency to drop his ears, BUT my concerns were of a fairly minor nature in view of his other outstanding qualities. A delightful natured chap.

Considered for BoB:
Healing's CH NORDLYS NICHOLAS 67 31 11-12-2002 A superb type cat with a most appealing head. Excellent ear shape and set. Very good profile. Excellent eye shape. Excellent body type. Unfortunately he was very short of coat. Superb markings.

Sedgewick's CH CATWO APOLLO 67 31t 09-10-2002 A grumpy chap who did himself no favours. Ears held very low. Very good profile. Excellent body type. Needs to carry more weight. Coat good length & texture.

Norwegian Forest Cat Female Adult
1 CC & BoB Pattison's ADTRELO ZUPIPUS BETTINA 67 20 06-05-2003
This delightful youngster really made my day, at 10 months of age she really did impress me! Excellent head shape. Ears of excellent size and shape with perfect setting and carriage. Excellent profile, perfect bite and superb strong chin. Excellent body type. Excellent legs and tail. Excellent bone and muscle tone. Excellent coat length and texture. Whilst I appreciate that colour and pattern is unimportant in this breed (and rightly so) I was really impressed by her dense black tabby markings and rich warm ground …. it really completes the picture. She was obviously calling and just a little fractious …. however her temperament was well within the bounds of acceptability! I would willingly have taken this superb female home with me - she is a credit to her breeders and owner.

2 Sedgewick's SMYLEE SNOWDROP 67 14c 29-04-2003
Head of overall very good type. Ears of correct size and shape and excellent set. Very good profile overall though spoiled by a slight dip to the nose. Muzzle just a little fine and lacking substance, hopefully this will develop with maturity. Eyes of very good size and shape. Excellent body type. Coat of good length and texture. Overall a very pleasing exhibit.

3 Crowe's ELERRINA FELIS AUDAX 67 31dt 13-07-2002
Overall a very pleasing exhibit. Head of good type overall. Ears of good size, shape, and set but she would insist on holding them a little low. Very good profile. Eyes good size and shape. Body of good type and correct balance, but I thought she was a little small for her age and a little on the thin side. Very good coat length and texture, superb rich red colouring.

4 Healing's MAYSULA WILD SPIRIT 67 31t 15-04-2000
Ears of good size but set rather wide. Very good profile. Bite very untidy. Good eye shape. Body generally of correct type and balance but she was rather small and fine boned for her age and generally lacking substance. Coat of good length and texture.

5 Healing's MAYSULA TWINKLEBOOTS 67 31t 13-07-2002
Ears a little small for balance, fairly well set but carried wide. Skull just a little flat spoiling an otherwise good profile. Good eye shape. Body of good overall type but lacking size and substance. Rather fine in bone. Coat of good length and texture.

6 Lindgren's MARAJADE MELIKA 67 36e 02-05-2003
Head overall rather short and broad lacking the required balance. Ears of good size and shape, but set wide apart. Fair profile. Eyes rather full. Body of fair type but in need of size and substance. Coat of good length but very soft anf fluffy in texture.

Considered for BoB:
Lindgren's CH DAYJOY TITANIA 67 31es 29-06-2001
Head of good type overall. Large ears of correct shape, set a little wide and held rather low. Very good profile and chin. Very good body type. Coat good length, just a little soft in texture.

Norwegian Forest Cat Male Neuter
1 PC Crowe's PR KJAERLIGKATT MERLIN 67 31 19-11-2001
A large mature male of overall excellence. Head of correct shape and proportions. Eyes good shape and size. Ears excellent size and shape, correctly set with excellent carriage. Excellent profile. . Excellent chin. Excellent muzzle. Long body of excellent substance. Tall strongly boned legs, balanced tail. Coat of good length and texture, just a little sparse. A worthy winner though he only just made it to 1st prize. Excellent temperament.

2 Coward's NORDLYS ATHANASIAS 67 31ts 02-05-2003
Another excellent example of the breed showing excellent substance & maturity for 10 months of age. Ears of very good size and correct setting. Eyes very good shape. Excellent profile, very good bite & chin. Muzzle rather pinched with prominent whisker pads. Excellent body type. Excellent length to legs and tail. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent condition and delightful temperament. He was well worthy of a PC and lost out by a whisker.

Considered for BoB:
BoB Coward's GR PR NORDLYS WILLIAM 67 31t 26-11-2001 A superb quality, large and impressive gent - this really is a Norwegian Forest Cat!. Excellent head. Ears of excellent size, shape and set. Excellent profile. Excellent eye shape and size. Excellent body type, large well boned and …. well …. frankly very large! Excellent coat length and texture. A real pleasure to judge this gent, all the attributes I look for in the breed. My congratulations to Owners and Breeder.

Oriental Lilac Female Adult
1 CC & BoB Kilmartin's CH NITERAP LAVANDER 14-05-2002
What a superb little lady. Head of overall excellent type and balance. Ears excellent size and set. Excellent top of head. Deep green eyes of excellent shape and set. Very good profile and chin, good bite. Body of very good type and well balanced, though just a little portly. Excellent coat length and texture, excellent soft lilac colour. Unfortunately rather unsound, but in view of her other qualities I felt more than justified in awarding the CC. Certainly a very attractive exhibit, looking every bit a quality Oriental, certainly one I'd be proud of.

Foreign White Female Adult
1 CC n/a Janczyk & McFarlane's FLUTTERBY SUGAR SUGAR 26-08-2002
Head of overall good shape. Ears very good size and shape, well set. Good top of head. Fairly good profile. Muzzle rather pinched and lacking substance. Chin rather prominent, bite very untidy and uneven. Body of medium type needing a little more length. Coat very good length and texture. Excellent condition and texture. Unfortunately I felt that the muzzle weakness precluded the award of the CC from this delightful natured lady.

Oriental Tortie Female Adult
1 CC n/a Jackson's METAXA ROISHEEN 37g 22-02-2002
A very attractive exhibit. Large ears of good shape and very well set. Good profile. Eyes of good colour, correctly set, but rather full. Muzzle showing slight pinch spoiling lines to wedge. Very good body type. Well balanced legs, long tapered tail which unfortunately has a definite defect. Coat of excellent length and texture. Very good medium blue intermingled with soft cream, a delightful mix by any standard.

Oriental Cream or Apricot Male Adult
1 CC n/a Klokow's SKYBLUEPINK ZIMMY 37fn 06-03-2003
Ears very good shape and set, though they could be a little larger for perfection. Top of head rather flat spoiling the overall profile. Green eyes of good shape and set. Muzzle showing slight pinch. Very good even bite, good chin complete with beard. Medium body type. Coat good length and texture, good even colour. Overall I didn't feel this lad was quite up to CC standard on the day.

Havana Male Neuter
BoB Morrison's PR ADTRESH BUSTER BROWN 22-10-2002
A very nice chap indeed. Excellent Oriental type overall. Good balance to head. Excellent green eyes. Excellent rich coat colour. Well worthy of BoB.

Oriental Lilac Male Neuter
1 PC & BoB Kenny's ADTRESH MAJESTICAL MARLEY 07-12-2002
Head of good overall type. Ears of good size and correctly set. Eyes good shape, good green colour. Very good profile. Good lines to wedge, spoiled by slight muzzle pinch. Body of good type overall, legs and tail in proportion. Excellent coat length and texture. Colour fairly sound, just a little cold in tone. I hesitated over the award of PC but concluded that he was just up to CC standard. Delightful tempered gent.

Oriental Cinnamon Male Neuter
1 PC n/a Hirst's CH & PR GINNISTAM TALIESIN 15-04-2002
Ears of good size and shape, fairly well set, carried just a little flattened. Top of head very flat and uneven. Dip to nose. Muzzle showing pinch. Eyes a little pale, fair shape and set. Good body type, long well balanced legs. Coat of good length and texture, rather uneven in colour and not sound to the roots. Shown in excellent condition.
