LANCASHIRE CAT CLUB SHOW

8th March 2008

My thanks to Chris and her team for once again inviting me to judge at this ever popular show, this year celebrating it's 60th show. The entry was good and I had a full book, so without a steward it became a bit of a race against time!!

Best Oriental : Holdworth's PR BILLSTES DREAMBOY 37d MN 19-03-03
A large well grown neuter of overall excellence. Large well balanced masculine head. Ears large and well placed. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Body of solid Oriental type with elegance. Short close coat of excellent even red colouring with minimal barring. A superb exhibit.

Oriental Blue Adult
1 CC & BoB Corby/Nolan's IKISHIROO KIRASH TAMASINS 37a F 13-04-07
A pleasing cat of overall excellent type. Ears of excellent shape, size and set with very good top of head. Very good even profile, correct bite and firm chin. Eyes of very good size and shape, correctly set and of lime-green colour. Long slim body of excellent type, well balanced legs. Tail rather short for balance and lacking sufficient taper. Excellent texture short close lying coat, colour rather dark and not quite sound at the roots. Excellent condition and temperament.

Oriental Tortoiseshell Adult
1 CC n/a Whiting's PENDLEMIST SPECKLEDSHELL 37e F 18-05-07
A very attractive young female of overall very pleasing type. Well balanced head. Ears of very good size and shape, correctly set. Very good top of head. Very good profile spoiled by slight bump on nose. Excellent chin line. Bite undershot. Long elegant neck. Body of excellent length and type. Legs long and elegant with very neat feet. Tail of good length and taper. Coat of very good length and texture, excellent rich colouring, showing some barring as a consequence of having a high percentage of red/cream. A very attractive exhibit but in view of the bite I had no choice but to withhold the CC, such a pity.

Oriental Cream or Apricot Adult
1 CC n/a Clarke's FOXYPAWS ATASTEOFHONEY 37fn F 02-06-07
This lady proved impossible to judge adequately …. she really was in a foul mood!! Ears well yes she had two but I have no idea of their shape or set. Head appeared a little narrow but maybe that was the result of all the swearing. Coat which appeared to be a good colour was open. The language was aweful!

Oriental Tortoiseshell Kitten
1 & BoB Hirst's TOGHAR PASTICHE 37h F 16-07-07
Ears very good shape, size and set. Excellent top of head. Very good profile overall though shows slight bump on nose. Eyes of very good size, correctly set but very full. Good green in colour. Excellent bite, good depth of chin. Long slim body of excellent Oriental type. Long slender legs with very neat spoon feet.. Tail very good length and taper. Coat of very good texture, short and close lying. Very good colour, well mingled. A delightful kitten with a very friendly nature, shown in excellent condition.

Oriental Classic Tabby Neuter
1 PC & BoB Gould's JADEVYN CHEVEYO 41d MN 13-02-07
Head of fair type overall but lacking strength, disproportionately small, and rather effeminate for a male. Ears of very good size and shape, well set. Eyes good shape and set, fair colour. Good profile. Muzzle very weak and lacking substance. Body of very good length but because he's carrying too much weight he does look rather cobby. Legs good length, very elegant. Tail of fair length and taper. Coat of very good length and texture, close lying. Classic pattern of overall very pleasing confirmation, very well formed and showing clear contrast between pattern and ground. Pattern of the most exquisite deep rich red - not a hint of 'ginger' in this lads colour - on a very bright lighter red ground providing exceptional contrast. A Red Classic is a very attractive cat and this lad has a superb pattern and colour …. So I could overlook the head weakness and very chubby body! A reduction in weight would see a vast improvement in his type and would bring his head back into proportion, and maybe not look quite so weak. A delightful cat.

Oriental Longhair Neuter
BoB Hinchliffe's GR PR MYLYNN MICKEY FINN 62 43s MN 26-05-06
This really is a cat of stunning type. He has a superb head and a very long body, add to this a quality coat of good length and texture and you have a very pleasing OLH … However there is just far too much of him! The standard describes the OLH as "Medium in size" …. Which this boy certainly is not ! But what type!

Wrong Colour : Dunn's PIPPASTRO MINALOOSH MN 12-05-07
This lad is a superb example of the breed and is a very elegant cat of great quality - and indeed very difficult to find fault with. Unfortunately he is registered as Black Silver tabby whereas he is actually Chocolate Silver shaded and on this basis I had no alternative but to mark him 'Wrong Colour'. Head of overall excellence. Ears excellent size shape and set. Excellent profile. Excellent muzzle and lines to wedge. Superb clear green eyes of excellent shape and set. Very elegant body of excellent length and type. Long slim legs, perfectly balance tail. Coat of excellent length and texture and definitely not to be confused with an OSH. Dark chocolate shading on a clear silver ground devoid of muddiness. I was saddened I could not award him a PC because he is without any doubt one of the finest OLH it has been my pleasure to handle.

Tabby Point Siamese Kitten
1 & BoB Palmer's STYPERSON STARRING ROLE 32/1 F 03-07-07
A well grown kitten in excellent condition, just a little overawed by the day. A well balanced head of overall pleasing type. Ears of very good size and shape, very well set. Excellent top of head. Very good even profile, good chinline, correct bite, strength to lower jaw. Good strength to muzzle, excellent lines to wedge. Eyes very good shape and set, pupils very dilated and therefore difficult to assess colour, but it what I could see was an excellent bright intense blue. Excellent body type. Balanced legs, tail a little short, well tapered. Excellent short close lying coat of very good texture. Well defined thumbprints, feint tracings to face, feint leg markings. Tail well ringed with only slight brindling. A really pleasing exhibit.

2 Hall's FURRYFACE DARCEY 32/2 F 31-07-07 Head rather small for balance. Ears very large and wide based but set too low and held horizontally - resulting in a flat line to the top of the head. Good even profile. Rather pale blue eyes rather narrow and horizontal in set. Slender body of good length. Long slim legs, dainty paws. Coat very short but open and showing raised ridge along spine. Clear thumb prints, excellent clear blue facial markings. Leg bars rather feint. Well defined tail markings of Classic Tabby pattern.

1 & BoB Brock's KARAMUSHI TUTIFRUITY 32b1 F 04-08-07 A well balanced head of overall pleasing type. Ears large and well set. Very good top of head, excellent profile overall spoiled by prominent nasal bridge. Good strong muzzle, excellent lines to wedge. Good chin line, correct bite. Eyes very good shape and set, just a little small, good colour. Excellent body length, balanced legs. Long well tapered tail. Coat of excellent length and texture, a little shaded for her age. Excellent points colour. Excellent condition and temperament.
