MANCHESTER & DISTRICT CAT CLUB

8th May 2006

My thanks to Margaret Walkden and the Committee for inviting me to judge once again this year. The show hall is well located, but the lighting is not at all helpful for assessing colour - even the judges coats looked yellow! I couldn't help but remember the wonderful Stockport Town Hall shows headed by Marjorie Stafford and Judith Ramsden, both well in evidence at this years show. My thanks as always to Mark for handling the cats so well.

Ragdoll Bicolour Male
1 CC n/a Jones' CH SILKIESTAR RAPHEAL 66 31 03/04/2004
Ears of very good size shape and correct set. Fairly good top of head, but I would like it a little flatter. Fairly good profile, but unfortunately he is very long in the nose. Cheeks showing fairly good development, but lacking a little in the muzzle. A large well filled chap with most excellent body type - he has all that one can ask for. Coat of excellent texture, a little short and lacking furnishings. Excellent colour and markings. A delightful natured chap. Overall a very pleasing exhibit of overall good type but after some consideration I felt that his head did not support the award of CC - but despite that he is certainly a very nice cat.

2 Fitzpatrick's EMERISLE EMILIO BANDITO 66 31 08/04/2005
Unfortunately this lad was rather stroppy and certainly did himself no favours. Overall rather lacking in the size I expect in an adult male of this breed. Ears of good size and set. Good top of head, fair profile and good chin. Pleasing blue eyes of correct size and shape. Body of rather fine build and lacking in muscle. Fairly well marked overall. Coat of good length but very harsh in texture.

Ragdoll Bicolour Female
1 CC & BoB Haworth's DIZZIPAWS SUSIE 66 31 15/05/2005
A delightful young female at just 10½ months. She is overall of very pleasing type. Excellent size and substance for age. Ears of very good shape and size, correctly set. Excellent top of head. Very good profile, cheeks developing well for age, with an excellent muzzle. Excellent eye shape and size, though for perfection I would prefer a brighter blue colour. Excellent body type, excellent length, good strong rib cage. Excellent strong well boned legs. Good tail. Coat of excellent texture, just a tadge short. Very well marked overall, face marking just a little uneven. Shown in excellent condition, well presented and delightful temperament. A real pleasure to judge this very attractive and promising youngster

Considered for BoB : Pidd's CH RAGALYN SKY 66 31a 27/04/2004
A pleasing exhibit, today she was a little nervous. Cheeks developing well. Her nose is a fraction long which is compounded by her muzzle lacking just a little in substance. A very pleasing two year old.

Ragdoll Bicolour Neuter
Considered for BoB : Haworth's GR PR POLLYWOFFLES TYSON
A magnificent example of the breed, large, excellent type with superb substance. Excellent head type. Excellent body type. Lovely coat of correct texture and shown to perfection. Well deserving of the BoB.

Also considered for BoB : Ashworth's GR PR RAGALYN BLUELAGOON 66 31a 27/04/2004
Ears of good size and shape, held a little upright. Top of head needs to be a little flatter. Fairly good profile. Cheeks lacking sufficient development. Body of good type. Excellent temperament and condition.

Also considered for BoB : Ashworth's UK GR CH & IMP GR PR EMERISLE DIAMANTE 66 31 02/03/2000
A very small queen of overall fair type. Ears good size and set. Good top of head. Good profile and chin. Nice cheeks and muzzle. Body of overall good type but far too small for a female neuter of this age. Coat of good length and texture, nicely marked but very dark in the body lacking contrast with the points.

Asian Smoke or Burmilla Neuter
1 PC n/a Plaw's RAINSONG STEVIE GERRARD 72 43d 28/06/2005
Head of overall good type. Ears very good shape and set. Nicely domed skull. Good profile, though just a little long in the nose. Nice muzzle and chin. Eyes fair size and shape. Excellent body type with legs and tail to balance. Coat of excellent length and texture. Unfortunately the hall lighting was not conducive to assessing colour and made his coat rather more ginger than red! However I discounted this, unfortunately the coat showed minimal shading, and was rather more typical of a Red Ticked than a Shaded -I do not think the hall lighting had a significant effect on the shading. I therefore felt unable to award a PC to this otherwise delightful lad.

2 Brooksbank's PR LUNBROOK CAFEAULAIT 72 42bq 10/03/2005
Ears held a little upright, just a little close set. Fair skull. Fair profile with very strong chin, bite a little uneven. Muzzle rather pointed. Good body type. Good colour but very poor smoke undercoat both in respect of silver and depth. Showing very heavy ghost tabby markings.

CNH Hall's PR NEMOREZ LONGFELLOW DEEDS 72 43nq 04/06/2004
This lad was a most attractive chap …. but he definitely did not want to be handled and paid the penalty.

Oriental Tortie Kitten
1 & BoB Davies' WICCANWAYS MYSTICAL KARMA 37j 19/12/2005
Ears of excellent size shape and set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Eyes of very good size and set, though just a little full. Excellent body type. Tail a little short for balance. Coat of excellent length and texture. Well mingled colours, but the lilac appeared very dark and cold, and the cream rather hot ….. this may have been the hall lighting so I gave her the benefit of the doubt - had there been access to natural light I would have queried her colour. She really is a delightful kitten of excellent quality … and what a sweet nature!
