John S Harrison
My thanks to Jane, Irene and the Committee for inviting me to Judge once again at this popular specialist show. My thanks to Mark for stewarding for me.
Oriental Grand Female
GCC Robinson's CH ADVENSH BAST 37fn
A delightful lady I've not had the privilege of meeting before. A magnificent example of the breed - no flashy
exaggerations, just plain good honest Oriental type. Excellent head shape. Very good profile. Excellent lines to wedge though
she has a tendency to puff her whisker pads. Very good strength of chin. Green eyes of excellent size, shape and set. Body of
excellent type. Tail a little short for balance. Coat of very good length, close lying, just a little harsh in texture.
Excellent freedom of markings, very evenly coloured. Colour the cream side of apricot. A really attractive exhibit with a
wonderful temperament, well deserving of the GCC
Res Lumley's CH JADEVYN REDHOT MOMMA 37e
Had the above queen not been present this attractive youngster would have taken the GCC. Superb head
overall with a magnificent profile and excellent chin line. Good lines to wedge despite the slightest of pinches. Excellent eye
shape and set that though green need to be a little deeper to match her body colour. Very good body length and type. Tail could
be a little longer for perfection. Coat of good length, just a little harsh in texture. Very good rich sound colouring, with a
high percentage of red and cream which by definition shows a degree of ghosting. A very promising youngster, unlucky to meet
the winner.
Oriental Shaded
Male
1 CC N/A Singleton's RISINSUN SOLEIL DOR. 43ds. 22/6/99
Head of fair overall type. Ears
of good setting but too small for correct balance. Skull far too flat with a distinct longitudinal depression which was
confirmed by the Duty Vet. Profile very angular with a distinct bump on the nose. Eyes of fair shape and setting, but far too
yellow in colour. Muzzle showing severe pinch. Body of good length and type. Tail of very good length and taper with a terminal
defect. Coat of very good length, but rather harsh in texture. Excellent even shading of good red colour on a clear silver
ground.
Female
1 CC N/A Parkinson's SMAUG ANGELS GLORY. 43ps. 25/8/99.
A very
attractive exhibit of correct Oriental type, unfortunately she is far too small and looked like a kitten rather than an adult.
Head of overall excellence with correct balance. Ears very good shape and set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile.
Excellent lines to wedge. Good green eyes of correct set, but rather full. Excellent body type. Very good coat length and
texture showing superb shading of the correct colour on a good silver ground. A really promising youngster, but she is far too
small and it was for this reason alone that I with held the CC.
2 Kitchiner's KIMELPHA KIARA KALLISTA. 43fns. 11/9/99
Head of very good
shape overall. Ears of good size and set. Very good profile. Excellent eye shape and set, but colour far too orange green.
Excellent body length and type though carrying too much weight. Very good coat length and texture. Heavy shading of excellent
colour, on silver ground which needs to be a little clearer silver.
3 Funnell's KUMONTHEN TAMAROA. 43es. 17/7/99
This queen was rather
difficult to handle and did not show to best advantage. Head of overall good type. Large ears of correct shape and setting.
Very good profile. Chin just a little shallow. Muzzle showing distinct pinch. Body of excellent length and type. Coat of good
texture but far too long. Heavy though evenly shaded. Good colouring on clear silver ground.
4 Stafford's HEYBURY TITIAN RED. 43ds. 8/6/99
Good basic head type.
Ears of very good shape and set. Skull a little too flat which spoils an otherwise good profile. Eyes of good shape and set,
but clear orange in colour. Muzzle showing pinch. Excellent body type and length with well balanced tail. Excellent coat length
and texture. Excellent light shading of good red colour on a clear silver ground. This lass undoubtedly had the best shaded
coat in the class.
5 Earnshaw's SUMMERDOWN DILLY DAYDREAM. 43s. 14/9/99
A cat of only
fair type and her head was not typical of the Oriental breed. Ears of fair set, though too small for balance. Skull very flat
resulting in a very angular profile. Fair eye shape and set. Bite undershot. Body of mediocre type. Coat far too long. Fair
shading, poor quality silver ground, and heavy tarnishing.
Oriental Smoke Adult Female
1 IC & BoB Falconer's ADVENSH RUDEE GRANOVSKI. 42.
18/3/99
An attractive exhibit. Head of overall excellence. Ears very good size, shape and set. Good top of head, profile
rather uneven. Excellent eye shape and set. Good colour. Body type just a fraction heavy. Tail could be of better length and
taper. Coat of very good texture, just a little long for perfection. Good colouring with an excellent clear undercoat. I gave
some thought over the IC but felt that she just made the grade.
Angora Male Neuter
1 IC N/A Rice's MISTYTOR CAPPUCCINO. 62 15k. 9/11/98
Head of fair type overall. Ears
fair shape and set. Good profile. Good lines to wedge. Eyes good shape and set, excellent green in colour. Body of rather heavy
type. Tail a little short with terminal pip. Coat rather long and far too soft in texture rather than the desired silky
texture. Colouring rather uneven and patchy.
