SHROPSHIRE CAT CLUB
February 3rd 2007
John S Harrison
My thanks to Show Managers Di & Janet and their team for inviting
me to judge at this show. I understand that the entry was down on previous
years, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I am most grateful to Jane Haggar for
stewarding for me. Jane proved to be a very efficient steward, handling the
cats well, and was good company
what more could I ask for? Jane I hope
you enjoyed it and will steward for me again.

Mitted Ragdoll Male
1 CC n/a Griffiths & Scott's MARGELITE
APPLEJAQUE 66a 01/07/98
Ears of very good size and shape, correctly
set. Excellent broad flat top of head. Good basic profile spoiled by the nose
being too long. Cheeks lacking sufficient definition which combined with the
length of nose forms a distinct wedge when viewed from the front. Eyes of very
good size and shape, one was a bit wet so he was checked by the Duty Vet. Body
of very good type and balance but for perfection he really does need just a bit
more size. Coat of very good length and texture. This delightful natured lad
was shown in excellent condition and was a delight to handle. I was sorry to
withhold the CC but the length of nose and lack of cheeks couldn't be ignored.
I understand he is the sire of the very worthy BoB winner.
2 Byrne's
TUFYTOES ORLANDO 66f 13/04/06
Only just into adult classes and at a
bit of a disadvantage. Ears of good size and shape, fairly well set. Good top
of head. Cheeks showing some development but needing time to develop full
potential. Muzzle just a little fine. Eyes good shape but rather pale in
colour. Body of very good type and substance. Excellent coat length and
texture, pleasing colour. Excellent condition and temperament. A nice young
chap with promise.
3 Littler's SILKIESTAR SHIRAZ 66dt 07/09/05
Ears of fair size, shape and set. Fairly good top of head. Nose very long
spoiling otherwise good profile. Eyes very good shape and set. Fair cheek and
muzzle development. Very good body length. Excellent size and substance. Coat
rather short. Good colour and markings.
4 Westwood's APPLAUSE
STARSBOY 66at 09/08/05
I was extremely concerned at the condition in
which this delightful natured lad was shown - he clearly had received NO show
preparation and obviously receives little regular grooming. His coat was very
badly matted and knotted.
AC Colourpointed / Mitted Ragdoll
Female
1 CC & BoB Slater's RAGTASIA PEACHESAND CREAM 66g
16/04/05
A most delightful young female of overall excellent type.
Excellent top of head. Ears of excellent size, shape and set. Excellent profile
with balanced nose. Well developed cheeks, excellent muzzle, excellent chin
line and bite. Eyes of good shape, set and colour. Excellent body length with
correct type and balance, good strength of bone, she just needs that little
extra size which will come with maturity. Excellent coat length and texture,
excellent colouring. Shown in excellent condition. Very sweet natured, with
just a little reserve. This superb youngster is a really promising example not
only of the red series, but also of the breed as a whole, and was a delight to
judge. I was very impressed withher at the BRCC Show and I have not altered my
view of her! Well deserving of the CC and the BoB. Well done to owner and
breeders.
2 Bowker's SHAMANTA PRINCESZ AURORA 66a 14/04/06
A
youngster of overall good type but still very much a kitten. Ears of very good
shape and set, very good top of head. Eyes good shape and size. Fair profile.
Cheeks showing some definition. Body of good type, with fair size and
substance. Very good coat length and texture. Excellent temperament. This lass
was shown in excellent condition but needs time to develop and mature - she
still looks a kitten.
3 Pidd's SENZAPARI DONNATELLA 66w 11/10/05
Overall this female was of fair type. Head of rather fine type overall,
ears good size and set. Fair top of head. Fair profile. Cheeks lack sufficient
development, muzzle too fine. Fair body type and substance. Coat of good
texture. Well marked.
Siberian Assessment
Merit to :
Symonds SILKIESTAR MARLEY
A very attractive large masculine exhibit
of overall very good type and conforming well to the Breed Standard. Ears of
good size and shape, well set. Very good top of head. Very good cheek structure
as required by standard. Very good profile. Very good muzzle. Eyes of correct
shape and set. Excellent strongly built body of correct type. Excellent paws.
Tail of good shape and length. Excellent coat length and texture. A delightful
natured chap shown in excellent condition.
Merit to : Symonds
RADZIMIERZ TAMARA
A very attractive medium sized female of overall
very good type. Head of very good overall type and balance. Ears of very good
size, shape and set. Good profile. Very good muzzle shape and well formed
cheekbones in accord with the standard. Eyes of correct shape and set. Body of
very good type and deceptively heavy for size! Tail correct length and shape.
This very attractive Tortie Tabby has an excellent topcoat with a dense
undercoat and would probably be quite happy in the Russian winter weather.
Excellent temperament and condition.
No Merit : TIGGYTYKES
OPHELIA
A very large lady with a very attractive coat! Head a little
long for balance. Ears of good size and shape. Fairly good profile, but nose
rather too long and narrow. Fairly good cheek bones. Eyes fair shape and size.
Body rather too long and rangy for perfection. Excellent strength of bone. Coat
very dense lacking sufficient top coat giving the overall impression that it
would not be waterproof. A very attractive Silver Tortie just a little nervous
but shown in excellent condition. I felt that her head faults and lack of
topcoat preclude the award of a Merit - however I would be interested to see
her when she is mature and in full coat.
Norwegian Forest Cat Neuter
Male
1 PC n/a Price & Lewis' JOTUHEIM ORTEGA 67/31 20/05/02
A delightful natured lad of overall good, if somewhat feminine, type. Head
a little wide for correct balance. Ears of very good size and shape, set a
little too wide. Excellent profile overall spoiled by a slight dip to the nose.
Muzzle rather fine. Eyes good shape. Excellent long body carried on tall legs,
needing just a little more substance. Coat of good length but a little soft. A
pleasing chap but unfortunately rather too fine overall for the PC to be
awarded.
BoB : Coward's UK GR PR NORDLYS ATHANASIAS
67/31ts 02/05/03
A large strong cat of overall excellence. This chap really
does look a Norwegian Forest and is an impressive exhibit, I can add nothing to
my report of im at the Supreme Show where I awarded him the UK GPC and the BoB.
A superb example of the breed.
Norwegian Forest Cat Neuter
Female
1 PC n/a Wood's NORSVANA SUGAR SPARKLE 67 31ats
Ears
just a little small for balance but very well set. Fairly good profile. Eyes
very oriental in shape and set. Very good body type but rather small and
lacking the required substance. Very good coat length and texture. This lass
was to say the least in a bit of a strop and certainly did nothing to enhance
her chances.
Cornish Rex Kitten
1 Desolla's INDASIA
KEHIRA 33/21
Head overall rather long for balance with a wedge tending
to Oriental type. Ears of good size but rather too oriental in shape and set.
Fairly good top of head with gentle curve at the brow, but far too long in the
nose. Lacking the cheekbones and muzzle shape which are so important to the
Cornish head. Eyes very good size and shape. Excellent neck. Excellent body
type held on tall legs with very neat paws. Excellent short tightly rexed coat
to sides of body, but unfortunately the coat was very short and sparse across
the back. A very dainty elegant and playful kitten shown in excellent condition
; unfortunately I could not overlook her faults and withheld the BoB.
Asian Self / Tortie Kitten
1 & BoB Rice's CORVUS
INTREPID 72 22/07/06
Very good Asian type overall. Excellent head
shape. Ears correct size and size. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile.
Eyes of excellent shape and size, with outstanding eye colour. Excellent body
type. Excellent coat length and texture, dense black to roots. A well grown lad
showing great promise. Well deserving of BoB.
Oriental Shaded Neuter
Male
1 PC n/a Thorpe's PR MERRYTAIL JOEL 43b 31/10/04
Excellent head shape from front. Ears of excellent size shape and set.
Skull rather flat resulting in profile being a little too angular. Good chin
line, correct bite. Eyes of very good size and set, a tendency to squint.
Excellent lines to wedge. Excellent body type, excellent length. Long well
tapered tail. Excellent short close lying coat. Fairly good shading but the
base colour is rather too grey, it needs to be warmer in colour, and
unfortunately the coat is grey at the roots. A lovely lad, but unfortunately I
felt the shading/colour precluded award of PC.
Oriental Shaded
Neuter Female
1 PC n/a Rowe's FOXYPAWS SUA LAI 43a 20/08/05
Head of overall very pleasing type. Ears of very good shape and set with
good width between. Very good profile overall with just the slightest dips at
nose and brow. Eyes of excellent shape and set. Very good lines to wedge. Body
of very good type and balance. Very good legs with dainty paws. Good tail
length and taper. Coat of very good length and texture, showing fairly heavy
ghosting. Shading very heavy, approximately a 50:50 split; unfortunately there
is insufficient differentiation, the base colour needs to be much paler. A
delightful natured lass shown in excellent condition. Unfortunately the shading
precluded the award of PC.
