WESSEX CAT CLUB

Many thanks to Gill and Sue and the Committee for inviting me to judge. The venue in Salisbury seemed to be popular, and from the judges point of view only had one fault, namely an absence of natural daylight - but that's a problem with most venues today. I don't often judge in the Southern part of England and so many of the cats were completely new to me, which always makes judging interesting.

Wow …… What a stunning Cat!!! I don't recall meeting this chap before, but goodness me he really does have the lot and is a superb example of the Variety. A large masculine exhibit perfectly balanced and showing overall excellence. Head large, strong and masculine fitting the SoP so closely. Ears of excellent size, shape and set with good width between. Excellent top of head running into a perfect profile. Good bite and excellent chin line. Very good lines to wedge, almost straight from nose to ear tips giving the head an overall perfectly balanced triangular shape. Eyes of excellent size, shape and set, and showing a very acceptable blue colour. Head held on long elegant neck in a most superior manner. Excellent long body of correct type with superb muscle-tone, balanced legs. Tail a little short and needing better taper for perfection. Coat of excellent length and texture, pure white and clearly very well prepared for his day out. Excellent condition and presentation. Just looking at this chap you know he's real quality, but what you can't see is his wonderful temperament, he so enjoys being handled and really does show himself to perfection …. I don't think he conned me, but he certainly knows how to win a judge over! Without any doubt this chap is certainly one of the finest Orientals I have handled for many years and my thanks to his owner for allowing me the privilege of judging him.

2 Rice's PR MISTYTOR MANRIQUE. 62 16 06/01/03 A good sized Oriental though rather lightweight and lacking muscle-tone. Head of fair overall type. Ears of good size and shape but far too high in set. Eyes of good size, shape and set. Fair profile and chin-line. Good neck length. Excellent length body carried on long slender limbs, tail length in proportion - unfortunately he needs to carry a lot more weight. Coat of very good texture, but far too short for an OLH, apart from his tail there was minimal evidence of being a LH. A delightful natured lad who really seemed to enjoy the attention. Honestly Mum he really tried his best to convince me that he was GCC standard, but I felt he didn't quite reach the standard today.

I've certainly judged this lady before and have always been very impressed with her, today however she was very stroppy and obviously a bit out of sorts and only just reached the required standard. Head of overall excellence. Ears very good shape, size and set. Excellent eye shape & set, clear green in colour. Excellent lines to wedge. Good profile and chin line. Excellent body length with balanced legs and tail. Coat of very good length and texture though it was anything but close lying when I judged her, though I did note at lunchtime that she seemed to have settled down a little. Excellent colour mix, and well shaded.

Unless my memory fails me I seem to recollect giving this lovely lady a GCC in the past, today despite the fact that she was rather timid and showed her age, she still can hold her own in strong competition. Head of overall good type. Large ears well set with good width between. Top of head flat giving an angular profile. Good lines to wedge, pleasing muzzle. Greenish eyes of good shape and set. Body lacking a little in elegance. Coat of excellent length and good texture. Superb rich colour and still totally sound to roots.
