WYVERN CAT CLUB

14th September 2002

John S Harrison

My thanks to Show Managers and Committee for inviting me to judge once again. The hall lighting made the assessment of eye and coat colour very difficult and the presence of daylight lamps was much appreciated. My thanks as usual to Mark for stewarding for me.

Norwegian Forest Cat, Male Neuter.
I took this class over from Mrs Scruton, I hope exhibitors were not too displeased.
1,PC & BoB Sedgewick's PR VIEUXTEMPS SIRIUS. 67.14c 05/10/00
A large strongly built male with excellent bone and muscle-tone and showing great strength to head. Ears of good size and of excellent shape and set. Very good profile overall, though showing a slight change of plane. Excellent chin line. Excellent lines to wedge. Eyes of excellent shape and set, rather yellowish in the hall lighting. Excellent strong well-balanced body carried on tall legs, good length tail. Pure white coat of correct texture, rather moulty at present. Excellent condition, and superb outgoing nature. This superb chap really is a most impressive exhibit and I was delighted to give him another PC.

2 Grant's GR CH & PR VANAHEIM THE JABBAWOK 67 14c 16/06/99
Another big lad of very good type overall. Skull very flat and profile correspondingly far too angular. Ears of good size and excellent shape and setting. Eyes good set, but rather narrow. Good chin line. Excellent lines to wedge. Excellent body length and build. Coat of excellent length and texture, white colour just a touch grubby in places. Excellent condition and temperament.

3 Szwed's SNOKRYSTAL ASLAN 67 29 07/01/00
Head a little broad for the length. Ears good size and setting, but need a little more width at the base. Good lines to wedge, but overall to wide a triangle. Good profile, though just a little angular. Good bite, though his teeth really are tiny! Very good body type. Coat of good length and texture.

4 Welch's KYRREKAT OLE GUNNAR 67 31a 09/04/01
Head of very good type overall. Ears of good size and shape, correctly set. Excellent profile. Good lines to wedge though he insisted on puffing his whisker pads which ruined the overall effect. Body of very good type. Tail very short. Coat of good length and texture.

Considered for BoB: Kemp's PR SNOWSCAPE STORM. 67.31t 19/05/98
This grumpy chap really didn't want to come out and play, but he did so with plenty of scowling! Head appeared rather broad for the length and the ears appeared to be very low set. He certainly did himself no favours … and as a result got no rewards either!

Oriental Tortie, Adult.
1 CC & BoB n/a Button's BETHANE BONNIE 37g 25/09/00 Ears of good set and shape but rather small for balance. Flat skull and angular profile. Muzzle rather weak with distinct pinch. Eyes good shape and set. Body of good type and length, balanced legs & tail. Coat rather harsh in texture, colour fairly sound.

Considered for BoB: Cooke & Hamilton's CH MESHUGA BRIMSTONENTREACLE 37e 20/11/98
A cat of overall fair type. Ears fair set. Profile far too angular with skull depression.

Oriental Spotted Tabby Adult Male
1 CC & BoB n/a Wright's COCOBA TIGER EYES. 38b 01/10/01 A cat of excellent type. Beautiful head overall. Ears excellent shape size and set. Excellent top of head. Eyes excellent shape and set. Excellent profile overall with just the slightest of dips to nose. Excellent long fine body with perfectly balanced legs & tail. Excellent coat length and texture. Unfortunately whilst this chap has absolutely superb type he fails badly on pattern which though well formed is indistinct, superficial and shows excessive agouti invasion. Such a pity.

Oriental Smoke Adult Female
1 CC & BoB n/a Stephens' SHUNGSHU MOVEOVER DARLING 42b 04/06/01
A queen of good Oriental type overall. Large well set ears. Good top of head and fair profile. Good lines to wedge overall but spoiled by muzzle pinch. Green eyes of very good shape and set. Good body type. Tail could be longer & finer. Coat of good length just a little harsh in texture. Chocolate colour and smoke have been bleached by the sun with the result that she appeared to have had a few golden blonde highlights added! Unfortunately the coat colour and lack of clarity in smoke base prevented award of CC.

Angora Adult Male
1 IC n/a Smyth's APRIKAT SHADOWSINTHEDARK 62-20 23/07/01
A cat of excellent type. Ears large and extremely well set. Eyes excellent shape and set. Good profile. Excellent lines to wedge. Excellent body length, elegant limbs. Tail of good length with slight defect. Unfortunately whilst it was difficult to find fault with his type he has an extremely short coat which on other than his tail was not readily distinguishable as a SLH.

Angora Adult Female
1 IC & BoB Tasker's BUNDOOK OHM MAID 62-20n 25/11/01
Head of good type and shape. Ears good size and set. Very good profile. Green eyes of very good shape and set. Good body length and overall type. Coat of good length, inclined to be a little woolly. Very good colour. Well worthy of IC. I was also pleased to award her Best Oriental Adult.

Havana Neuter Male
1 PC & BoB n/a Hughes' TIEKE CANDIDPUMA 29 15/08/01
Large well developed masculine chap. Ears of good shape and set. Excellent top of head. Good lines to wedge with only a slight muzzle pinch. Good profile. Very good eye shape and set. Very good body type. Tail rather short and lacking sufficient taper. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent rich colour, but unfortunately very unsound. Lovely natured chap in excellent condition. Unfortunately coat prevented award of CC.

2 Owen's PR CAZZYWOODS ENIGMA 29 22/08/00
Head of fair type overall. Ears good size though set a little upright. Profile very angular. Eyes good shape and set. Muzzle rather weak with pronounced pinch. Good body type. Tail rather blunt. Coat very good length and texture but very unsound.

Oriental Lilac Male Neuter
1 PC n/a Weaver's PR GENTLEFOLK MISTERTEDDY 29c 22/02/00
Ears of good size but set close together and carried upright. Flat skull and angular profile. Severe muzzle pinch. Eyes good shape and set. Good body length, long legs. Tail short and lacking taper. Coat of good length and texture, rather brindled and unsound.

Oriental Lilac Female Neuter
1 PC & BoB Webster's PR GINGERBREAD LILAC CASCADE. 29c 14/08/95
Seven years old and looking quite superb! Head of excellent shape overall. Ears of excellent size shape and set with superb top of head. Excellent profile. Strong chin line, bite rather untidy. Green eyes of excellent size and set. Body of good length and portly elegance(!). Balanced legs. Tail rather short for balance and slightly thick at the tip. Excellent texture coat, though a little long. Excellent condition and temperament.

Oriental Ticked Tabby Neuter
1 PC & BoB Parkinson's PR SMAUG MERLIN THEMAGICIAN 45n 25/07/01
Head of good overall good type. Ears of good size shape and set. Muzzle showing slight pinch. Good profile. Eyes good shape and set. Good length body of correct oriental type. Coat of good length and excellent texture. Excellent example of caramel colouring. Excellent leg, facial and tail markings. Adequate ticking, though I would have liked more clarity. Overall I found him to be a nice chap and thought him worthy of the PC despite my reservation over the definition of ticking. This exhibit has vastly improved since I judged him three months ago.

2 Duffy's PR CHELANCA BOMBADIER BOWMONT 45fn 06/07/01
A well grown exhibit of overall good Oriental type. Ears of very good shape size and setting. Fair profile. Muzzle rather weak and showing severe pinch. Eyes good shape and set. Excellent fine body type. Coat of good length but rather harsh in texture. Fairly good leg and tail markings, but coat overall showing very indistinct ticking - and even allowing for the colour I would expect better definition in a Ticked Tabby.
