WYVERN CAT CLUB

13th September 2003

John S Harrison

My thanks to Show Managers Julian & Carole Hague and the Committee for inviting me to judge once again, and for the gift of the Royal Worcester Mug. My grateful thanks to Barbara Fellows for stewarding for me once again - spending the day with such a good friend is always enjoyable. I had a fairly hefty judging book and was delighted with the quality of so many of the exhibits I judged, it was a pleasure to be able to award so many certificates!

AV Any Other Foreign Grand Champion Male.
GR CH to Burke's CH TONKITU FLYNN. 74d 14-11-1999
A cat of overall excellent type and conformation. Ears of correct size and placement. Top of head rather flat. Very good profile. Eyes of very good size and shape. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and texture. Body even light red deepening in colour to the points which were of an excellent colour. shown in excellent muscular condition. A most attractive chap with a superb temperament. Despite my concerns about the rather flat top of head I felt that his other qualities more than justified the award of the Grand.

AV Any Other Foreign Grand Champion Female.
GR CH to McLeod's CH BREAKFASTAT NORTHERN LITES. 72e 24-04-2002
A most attractive female of overall excellence, she was rather nervous and took a little time to settle. Ears correct shape and very good setting, Excellent top of head. Excellent profile with perfect nose balance. Good short wedge. Excellent body type. Coat of excellent texture, though just a little long for perfection, and very open. Excellent colouring. There was a lot to like about this queen, though I did feel I had been a little generous in awarding the Gr Ch, however later in the afternoon I went and had another look at her, she was far more relaxed and her coat was sleek and close lying and she looked so very much better than when I first judged her … and ... there was no question that she certainly warranted the Grand!

Oriental Grand Champion Female.
GR CH to Shepherd's CH SANDTUM SNOWPRINCESS 35 07-03-2002
What a truly lovely exhibit! Head of overall excellence. Ears of excellent shape, size and set. Excellent top of head. Excellent eye shape and set, excellent blue colour. Excellent profile. Very good lines to wedge, though a very slight muzzle pinch was evident. Excellent body type, showing length and elegance, for perfection the tail is just a little short for balance. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent condition and presentation. A very beautiful exhibit, a real joy to handle, and I had no hesitation whatsoever in awarding her the Grand - which was a very well deserved award.

Bi-Colour Ragdoll Adult Female
1 CC & BoB Williams' CHARISMAGIC GEMMA 66 31 13-03-2002
For a youngster at only 18 months this lady shows an excellent degree of maturity, she has the size and substance I always look for but seldom find in an exhibit of this age! Ears of good size and shape, correctly set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile showing correct dip to nose … which was a little long BUT having said that it's not something which would concern me in a female of this age. Excellent muzzle and cheek development. Eyes of excellent size and shape and acceptable colour. Excellent body type with good length yet still retaining a good short neck. Excellent bone, excellent rib cage. Excellent muscular condition. Coat of excellent length and texture. Excellent colour and perfectly even facial markings. A delightful exhibit, well deserving of the CC and certainly one who'll give the older ladies of quality a run for there money!

Norwegian Forest Cat Adult Male
1 CC & BoB Sedgewick's CATWO APOLLO 67 31t 09-10-2002
Head of excellent shape and proportions overall. Ears of excellent size and setting. Excellent profile. Excellent strong chin. Excellent lines to wedge. Excellent length neck. Excellent body type of perfect length. Excellent bone structure. Excellent length of leg. Excellent tail length. Coat of excellent texture and length though showing signs of the long hot summer. Excellent condition and with the most delightful temperament to match. Well deserved CC.

2 Welch's GR CH KYRREKATT KINGHAAKON 67 16 09-04-2002
Another superb gent, who I've met of various occasions in the past. This cat really is a superb exhibit and I see he has made Grand Champion since I last judged him in the Summer … a title which he undoubtedly deserves for he is a superb specimen of the breed. The placings were not easy, both cats deserved the award. My comments on him from previous shows remain unchanged. I hope I have the privilege of judging him again!

Norwegian Forest Cat Adult Female
1 CC n/a Sedgewick's CATWO HONEY PIE 67 31dt
Litter sister to the BoB winner. A very promising youngster indeed, though she needs to grow and develop better substance. Ears of very good shape and set. Excellent profile, firm chin and perfect bite. Excellent lines to wedge. Very good eye shape. Body lacking in size and substance. Coat very sparse and short though of excellent colouring. Unfortunately this very promising youngster was an exceedingly grumpy little madam, and had she matched up to her brother in every respect I would have withheld the CC on temperament. I hope that she learns some manners before I encounter her again.

Colourpointed/Mitted Ragdoll Kitten, Male
1 & BoB Tansey's SHALAPAWS MISTER CHIPS 66a 16-02-2003
A kitten of excellent type overall. Excellent head type. Excellent top of head. Ears of excellent size and correct setting. Very good profile though nose just a fraction long for perfection. Excellent blue eyes of superb size and shape. Excellent muzzle, and very good cheek definition. Head carried on short strong neck. Body of excellent length and build. Legs showing excellent strength of bone. Tail good length. Excellent coat length and texture. Excellent points colour on clear body colour. Excellent condition and temperament. An extremely promising kitten who I shall look forward to seeing as an adult.

2 Williams' SIMCATZO DIAMOND CHOC-ICE 66w 20-03-2003
A pleasing youngster, most unlucky in meeting the above! Ears of very good size and setting. Very good top of head. Very good profile, though rather long in the nose. Excellent eye shape, colour very pale. Excellent body type though bone could be rather more substantial. Coat very good length and texture, though rather dark for age. Excellent markings.

3 Haworth's DIZZIPAWS NEO 66a 03-05-2003
The baby of the class, but certainly no lightweight! A most appealing youngster of excellent size and build with very good bone. Ears good set. Skull rather round and nose a little long. Good muzzle shape, cheeks developing well. Excellent eye shape, colour needs to be deeper blue. Excellent body type. Excellent coat length and texture. Very good coat and points colour. I shall be interested in seeing this lad when he's a bit older.

4 Lynch's SILKIESTAR GRYFFINDOR 66w 11-04-2003
Ears of good shape and size but rather too upright in set. Muzzle rather too pointed, cheeks showing good development for age. Eyes rather too large. Very good markings

Colourpointed/Mitted Ragdoll Kitten, Female
1 Griffin's SPIRITDANCER RAGGIE ANNIE 66a 07-02-2003
A well grown youngster of good size and substance for a young female. Head of good overall type. Ears good shape and well set. Good top of head. Very good profile. Nose of correct length. Very good eye shape, fair colour. Excellent body length, short strong neck. Well boned legs, balanced tail. Excellent coat length and texture. A promising youngster.

2 Hart's SHAMANTA SMOKEONTHEWATER 66t 07-03-2003
A kitten of reasonable type overall. Ears of good shape and size but set rather upright lacking the characteristic forward tilt. Fair top of head. Good profile. Eyes good shape and colour. Fair body type. Coat good length and texture. Tabby markings rather feint.

3 Tansey's SHALAPAWS HARVEY'S PRINCESS 66 10-05-2003
This happy little lass was the real baby of the class and was very much a baby …. and these are always difficult to assess. Ears of good shape and setting. Good top of head. Reasonable profile with balanced nose length. Good eye shape and colour. Coat nothing more than kitten fluff. This kit is definitely one to look at again when she's grown up a bit!

Asian Self / Tortie Adult Female
1 CC & BoB McLeod's CH BREAKFASTAT NORTHERN LITES.

Asian Self / Tortie Kitten Female
1 & BoB Price's LANEGA ALDERNITI CASHMERE 72 16-05-2003
A kitten of overall excellent type. Superb head type. Ears of perfect shape and set. Excellent profile with nose of perfect length. Excellent eye shape and set. Excellent body type. Short close lying glossy coat. Whilst the colour is overall clear black to the roots I did note that under the chin and around the neck there were areas of grey, I gave her the benefit of the doubt on account of her age - had she been older I would have given far more thought to BoB … hopefully it will clear. She really is a little beauty though!

Asian Tabby Kitten Female
1 & BoB Williams / Pallett's CHAMORE LITTLEMISSATTITUDE 72 45a
A delightful kitten of excellent Asian type. Excellent ear shape, correct size and perfect set. Excellent profile. Excellent eye shape and set. Excellent body type. Coat of perfect length and texture. Excellent colour, clarity of ticking and markings. One to look out for in the future. Wonderful natured kitten and in really excellent condiotion.

Asian Tiffanie Male Neuter
1 PC & BoB Crow & Goss's KAGURA KEANU 68 43sq 11-10-2000 A cat of overall good type … though by the time I reached him he was a bit dishevelled to say the least - maybe a smaller litter tray he can't roll in might be an advantage! A cat of good Asian type. Ears good size and correct setting. Good top of head. Good profile. Good nose length. Good body type. Coat of very good length though the texture was rather coarse in places.

Foreign White Kitten, Male
1 & BoB Siviter's MICHANT WHITE ROYAL 35 26-05-2003
This kitten certainly has the 'Wow' factor and to say that I was impressed would be the understatement of the year! It is seldom I handle a kitten where I can find nothing, however minor, which can be faulted, however in this chap I was unable to find anything that I had the slightest inclination to criticise …. and that really is scary! A kitten of exceptional Oriental type with no indication of any exaggeration of any feature, nothing more than simply perfect Oriental type! Ears of excellent shape and size, perfectly set. Excellent top of head. Excellent profile. Eyes of perfect size, shape and set and the most wonderful clear blue I've seen for many years. Excellent body type. Short close lying coat of perfect texture. Excellent condition and presentation and the most wonderful temperament. I spent far too long judging this kitten, and I have to admit felt more than a twinge of envy. This really is one of the most outstanding kittens I have handled and IF he continues to develop this early promise I would predict that he'll do rather well for himself. I offer heartiest congratulations to Mrs Siviter for breeding a kitten of this quality, and would suggest that perhaps Geoff Royal will have more than a bit of fun showing this little chap.

Oriental Ticked Tabby Neuter Female
1 PC & BoB Royal's GR CH & GR PR CHELANCA GYPSY ROSE 45b 16-11-1999.
A grand old lady who's certainly done her share of winning. At four years she's beginning to show her age. Head of overall very good type, though the skull is now rather flat and a slight dip to nose spoils the profile. Ears of excellent shape and set. Excellent eye shape, size and set. Excellent body type with perfectly balanced legs and tail. Excellent definition of ticking, colour a little cold and some greyness at roots. A lovely old lady who I still admire and had absolutely no hesitation of awarding PC & BoB to!

Oriental Longhair Neuter Male
1 PC n/a Rice's MISTYTOR CAPPUCCINO 62 15k 09-11-1998.
Head of excellent Oriental type. Ears large and perfectly set. Excellent top of head and profile. Excellent eyes shape and colour. Excellent body type. On type I would readily have awarded the PC, but on coat he simply just didn't make the grade. It was fairly clear to me that this nice old gent has spent a summer of utter decadence lying in the sun! His coat was very badly sun-bleached and very coarse textured and I would be prepared to bet that had he been in good coat I'd probably have given him the PC.
